Sunset

The wind died down at sunset.
I went outside and sat on the deck.
The juvenile Blue Jay was perched on the basket handle.
He did not move when I sat down next to him.

I opened my book and began reading.
When I glanced up the Snowberry Clearwing was nectaring in the Butterfly Bush.
I raised my camera. There were two Clearwings!

We planted the Butterfly Bushes close to the deck.
Some of the blooms now hang between the bottom rails.
One of these days the Butterfly Bushes will be hanging over the top rails.

I like sitting in my deck chair and watching the birds and the bugs.

Oh look at that sweet little Blue Jay.

I just adore these photos of your Snowberry CLearwing. The curly 'Q' tongue is so cool.

The Butterfly Bushes are very pretty.

Sitting on your deck with a beverage must make you very happy.

Now for rain! Still working on it, I promise...

Love,

Thank you, Sherry. Your photos are truly wonderful and I constantly marvel at your skills. I have been trying to capture the few butterflies that have visited our garden and they have escaped me every time :-) You inspire me every day to keep trying :-) Sending you some more gentle rain and a hug.

Dear Sherry,

Sitting and watching birds and bugs? I could do it all day. We could sit before sunset with tea and wine and with camera's around our necks for hours. :o)

Hugs,
Mary

Hi Mon@rch,
I am so thrilled to have two now. Maybe they will like it here and we will have a nice colony.

Hi Sprite,
You are so fun!!! I am counting on rain! My rain sticks seem to be, "for decorative purposes only".
The Blue Jay has been hanging around since he was a wee one! I do not think he is one bit scared of me.
I am very excited about the Clear Wings! Seeing two means maybe I will see three or four or a dozen!
The butterfly bushes are small. Once they have a couple more seasons of growth I think we will have enough blooms for Clear Wings and Swallowtails!
I like sitting outside. I usually have my water, a book and a journal to jot in! The camera sits on my lap.
When it is too hot or too something and I have to be inside I get antsy... I want to be out with the bugs and birds.
Thank goodness I have Corner and you!
Wings and glitter,
Sherry

Hi Becky,
Oh yes, plant them up close!
You will have all sorts of butterflies and I think the Hummingbird Moths are in your area too.

Hi Chris,
Thankyou!!!
Please to have rain. You are very welcome. The butterflies can be so quick! They flit and flutter about. I find if I am in one spot that I think a butterfly might come to I can usually get a photo. Some flowers are so yummy for them that they forget all about me.
Don't give up! One of these photo times you will get a perfect picture.
I am looking forward to seeing your butterflies too.
Thanks for keeping rain for me in your thoughts.
Nameste and hugs,
Sherry
