Water, water, water

Cool, clear, water,
water, water, water....

The Feverfew is in it's second bloom.
The Pearl Crescents enjoy it.
I have the sprinklers on again.
Frontyard and backyard flower beds are too dry.

Hot and hazy with high humidity makes it so I cannot stay outside.
I have seen many butterflies through the backdoor window.
I saw the Pipevine Swallowtail. I hope it found the Dutchman's Pipe Vine.

I am taking my camera out when I move the sprinklers.
Maybe Pipevine Swallowtail will come back.

Carefully what you wish for. You don't need a hard downpour with all those new plants. I had some rain yesterday with the T-storms. If I could, I would sent it to you for your flowers.

Dear Sherry,

The Feverfew is beautiful, graced by the Pearl Crescent.

I am holding a rain vigil for you and all who need it.

I do hope you get to see the Pipevine Swallowtail again soon.

I hear the locusts outside, it always brings back the sounds of late summer when I was a child.

Gentle hugs, and Hopes for rain,

*sprite

Your rain vigil may be working, we have rain forecast for Monday and Tuesday. It's lovely to see the colour in your garden, and to know it is being enjoyed by these beautiful creatures..
As well as us of course..!

I know how you feel..weather here is so HOT and DRY...in a day I lost one of my prized hanging plants!
Dried right up and looks dreadful..I don't know if it will revive itself!!
I must stay indoors when so humid and dry because of migraine so like you I have a ~view through the window~ hoping the butterflies will return when I am out there with them.

Dear Cathy,
You are so right! I need the sweet, gentle, soft and soaking in sort of rains! Thank you for thinking of my flowers and new plants. I do water them but Mother does a much better job!

Dear Sprite,
I love all the herbs! The butterflies do too.
Thank you for holding rain vigil. So many of us are parched.
I did see Pipevine Swallowtail again and also today. Knowing all the Swallowtails are doing fine makes it easier for me to be inside until sundown. I cannot do the hot sun any more.
Stay cool and we will keep our eyes on the skies.
Maybe we will get a shower even tho it is not in the forecast.

Dear Chris,
I have a Nikon D50.
I also have three different lens. Thus I can go from 18x-500x.
I also use filters (sunglasses for the lens) and sunshades. Sometimes I will use a tripod or a monopod (one leg)if I need to.
I have ordered another lens, it is a macro. Hopefully I will be able to do close ups of tiny bugs!
Sherry, who rather took to photography

Dear Naturegirl,
I have given up on hanging baskets. If I do one I know it is a short lived pretty. I cannot keep them moist enough come August.
I also am thinking of not doing my deck pots next year. I have to water them two and three times each day and they do not thrive without rain. My rain barrels are empty again.
I find the butterflies are doing just fine even tho I am not out to play with them! I see them in the mornings and evenings and when I move the sprinklers!
Autummn will come and hopfully the rains will follow.
Stay cool. I am wishing on stars for both of us!

Dear Sheila,
Oh good news! I so hope you get sweet rains! Sprite is so kind to think of our rain needs. She understands and is very good!
Now we will want to share some of your rain!
Thank you, I am amazed anything is still blooming! The zinnias are reliable in dry weather as are the Marigolds. The sunflowers will be in bloom before long. Mums will wait for October. The Asters are in bloom. I have yet to see a butterfly on them. Maybe later in the season the skippers will enjoy some Aster nectar.
Today everything is wilted by the wind, including me!

I wish I could remember who sang that song. My Mom and Dad played it on the "hi-Fi" a lot :o)

Sunday was the hottest, Sherry. And this week we'll see 100 plus humidity. No rain.

Stay cool!

Your photos are so good...

Hugs,
Mary

Dear Mary,
The Sons of the Pioneers sang, "Cool Water". Roy Rodgers started the group in hte 1930's I think. They were a cowboy band!
I do Cowboys in August! I have a cd sampler I made of all sorts of old cowboy songs. The lyrics to "cool water" is all about praying for rain!!!
I love the song "Tumbling Tumbleweeds." I have about six maybe seven different versions on my sampler.
I think I will do a post on tumbling tumbleweeds...
Too hot!!!
You stay cool too.
Lots of water....cool clear water, water, water!!!
Ice and hugs,
Sherry
