The Common Buckeye
is my husband's favorite butterfly.
The Great Spangled Fritillary
is in the Bushfoot family.
I was so pleased when the Giants
found the Mexican Sunflowers.
I had planted them just for the Giants!
The Praying Mantis has grown.
She has turned brown.

Love the third photo! It's the background that makes it a winner.
Love your butterfly pictures.

In nature a repulsive caterpillar turns into a lovely butterfly.
But with humans it is the other way around:
a lovely butterfly turns into a repulsive caterpillar.

Sherry, I plan to post some "bug" pictures tomorrow or Wednesday, and thought I'd check yours out in case you had identified some of mine:) The praying mantis I know; mine are still green, though. Do they turn brown as they mature?
Thanks for the kind words for my oak tree!
Dear Sherry....the Common Buckeye is beautiful, I can see why it is your husbands favourite......so detailed.....I suppose the eyes scare predators away......
I to love the praying mantis....we do not have them here....it always gives me a lot of pleasure to see them on other peoples blogs.....
Have a good day.....
Dear Cathy,
The background has that watercolor look I so love too.
Sherry

All caterpillars are beautiful!
Sherry
Dear Rose,
I will pop over!
The Mantis does turn browm as they age.
I am so looking forward to seeing your good bugs!
Sherry
Dear Cheryl,
I am learning so much about the ways of the bugs. The eye spots are supposed to scare away or at least confuse the birds long enoufh for the Buckeye to get away.
The Mantids are amazing bugs. Old too...
Sherry
The Praying Mantis' shadow is great!
Nice job, Sherry :o)
Dear Mary,
Thank you. My husband thinks I should put a matis up on Artful Life...
