A Few Daffodils

A few daffodils are in bloom
by the back pond.

About ten years ago I planted a small bamboo near the pond.

I was told it was non-invasive.

It now has taken over the area.

The underground runners are deep.

We will have to dig up the entire flower bed
and pond.
We will have to start over.

We will wait until the bulbs are finished.

The white tulips are just emerging.

The white Crocus are in full bloom.

I am working with my macro lens.

Soon the bugs will return! I want to be ready.

Warning:

While working this afternoon a wayward twig poked my eye. It hurt!

It reminded me to wear eye protection while gardening. I need to ALWAYS do this.

My neighbor tripped on a root while walking in the woods and damaged her eye. She has had two surgeries. She may never recover her sight.

Protect your eyes! I promise I will too.

Thanks for the lovely daffodils, Sherry. We all want you to protect your eyes so that we'll be able to continue to share in your world.

Good luck with the bamboo and the pond renovation.

Have a wonderful week!

Love, Vikki

Love seeing your daffs Sherry. Do be careful. Eyes can't be replaced. I guess in some ways I am lucky that I wear glasses. They have saved my eyes many times.

Beautiful daffodils and I'll remember your advice. We started wearing our helmets when we ride our bikes...finally! Better safe than sorry!

I look forward to seeing the world that you create with your renovated garden space then. Great Great Macro Flower photos. I hope your eye heals quickly.

Those flowers fill my heart with love! They are so fragile, but so beautiful, just like love.
A wise precaution to protect eyes, but one we are all too slack about in the domestic garden.
Bamboo can be so invasive.

Sherry, you have mastered the macro lens--fantastic pictures! Your daffodils are just beautiful; last fall I planted some varieties besides the typical yellow ones and I can't wait to see them come up this year.

So sorry you have to dig up your whole pond flowerbed; growers really should be careful about labelling invasive plants. Thanks for the reminder about eye protection--that's something I hadn't thought about.

Sherry, I love those daffodils!! The way the trumpets are all super-ruffly, and the contrast between the trumpets and the frills. And the macro of the crocus!!! The stamen things are just so VIVID!!
And DO take care of your eyes!! I wear glasses, but this weekend had a branch swipe too close for comfort, while I was watching the ice underfoot. Jake has a scar between his eyes where a branch must have caught him; now we call him scarface.
Happy spring!!

so sorry about your eye and your neighbours eye, i am always onto my dh and boys about wearing protective eyewear. it is so important. i hope you will be feeling tiptop soon.
this macro book looks good i need to do a lot of reading in this area. i am very challenged and don't seem to take the time to learn more about it.

Gorgeous photos. I am looking forward to taking my macro lens outdoors. Up until now it has been either snowing/raining/or too cold :-)

Bamboo is hard, its a beautiful plant, but I honestly do not believe there is a non invasive type. I think if there is going to be bamboo in the garden it has to be in a pot. Sorry to hear you have to dig everything up.

Lovely photos!

Your pics are beautiful! I love the daffodils. Too bad about digging up your flower beds and the pond. What a huge undertaking!
Good Luck. I'd come and help, but I don't think I could find the way to your house. The breadcrumbs the little beetles left for me to mark the trail got all eaten up by the birds. Too bad.

Dear Wendy,
Thank you for the offer!
My husband will man the shovel and I will sift out the bulbs. We will replant the bed. I am not sure about the pond. I like it, he doesn't.....we will see what we do.
Always something in the gardens.
