I need some bugs. Venus Fly Trap is hungry. I thought I could find at least a fruit fly for her. We must have a spider or a moth someplace. I am hunting for a bug!
Hello friend. Good luck with that plant. The only thing I know about those is that they shouldn't have tap water, only distilled water. I don't know where you can find a bug in this weather!
Hi Saucy, No bugs outside that is for sure! I am thinking of getting a few bananas and seeing if I can draw some fruit flies in! I have been giving Miss Flytrap water from the tea kettle after it has boiled and cooled. Thank you for the reminder! I was thinking with all the plants inside and now flower bulbs I would need a couple of Venus Flytraps for bug control. The trials of the indoor gardener! ~Q~

• Kill weeds in driveway cracks with boiling water • Sprinkle natural grade diatomaceous earth in pest hiding places and entry points • Sprinkle corn gluten meal on turf grass to inhibit root formation during germination of annual weeds such as dandelions and crabgrass • Pour boiling water into ant mounds – do early in morning when colony is closer to surface • To kill weeds over larger areas, cover with black or clear plastic, secure to ground, and leave for 4 to 6 weeks. Resulting elevated temperatures will kill subsurface roots and seeds.
Hello Michael, Audubon.org is a great resource. Thank you for reminding me of it. I have gone to the birds of late. After Backyard Bird count in February I hope to start winter sowing. Right now the deck is full of birds. I think the mini greenhouses would have trouble with birds perching up on them. Mocking Bird is taking a break from chasing Starlings today. Looks as if I am on bird management again. I read that the Northern Flicker eats ants! Hope they stay around as I always have plenty of ants in the spring and summer. Happy bird songs to you, ~Q~
