Hi Sherry. I'm slightly envious - I get lots of lesser goldfinches, but it would be rare for me to get any American goldfinches to visit. I love how you captured those beauties.
Your birds are all so beautiful, so brightly coloured! I wonder why their colours vary so much, we have so many of the same plants (and some moths) but different birds. Wonderful!
Golfinches are very common here and I see them every day...I never tire of their striking color and beauty. You do a good job of showing them off, Sherry!
Hi Mary C, I looked in my field guide to Western Birds for the Lesser Goldfinch. They are not in my area. My goodness they are very pretty! I would love to see one.. I like to see the birds eating flower seed! I always think they are so pretty. Sherry
Dear Chris, I never have understood why one area of the world has one kind of bird and other doesn't. Enven tho many similiar plants and trees. It's a mystery. Also often we have the same name but different birds, like the Robin. I love seeing your birds and bugs! Sherry
Dear Mary, I think I counted 12 Goldfinches the other day in the yard. I too never tire of them. Now that the flowers are ready for them I love taking pictures of them in the cone flowers or on the sunflowers. I took a striking photo today of a male Goldfinch eating a sunflower. It is so pretty. I also never tire of the Tiger Swallowtails. The yellow and black is beautiful. Thank you. Capturing a moment in the garden is fun. Sherry
Hi Cestory, Thank you. I do treasure all birds and bugs and plants and fish and rocks! I treasure Mother Nature. I think of myself as an Earthling. I love our planet. Sherry
Dear Sprite, I am very fond of the Gold finches. I thought the first photo was very cute too. The birds are beautiful and funny! I can watch them all day without a problem unless a butterfly steals me away. Sherry
Beautiful birds, Goldfinches.

ReplyDeleteI so appreciate your pictures and commentary that show a sensitivity and grace so lacking in much of the world around us.

ReplyDeleteSherry,
In the first photograph it looks like Goldfinch is holding an flower umbrella for shade.
This really tickled me! :)
These are such beautiful and colorful birds, dear one.
The yellow of the Goldfinch in first photo is the color of my first car, a 'Fiat.'
Just wonderful!
