Cabbage White Butterfly

This afternoon I was on the deck reading.
It felt warm in the sun even though it was only 52 degrees.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw the Cabbage White.

Butterflies!

  5. Dear Mary,
My heart did stop for a moment!
It is still very cold, 33 degrees right now. Seeing the Cabbage White was a joy! I hope it warms up a bit next week and more butterflies come out. I do love the birds but the butterflies send my heart soaring!

  6. Dear Cheryl,
The butterflies are the most joyful for me. I love the bees and lady beetles too but for some reason when I see the butterflies I just think all is well in my world.

  7. Dear Lisa,
I had thought I would see an Eastern Comma or a Questionmark first this year.
It really has not been very warm. The sun helped out yesterday.
I am looking forward to cleaning the flowerbeds and getting my letuuce seeds planted.
The gardens are waking up. Everyday it seems a bit greener outside.

  8. Dear Jayne,
So happy to see the butterflies.
How are your nesting blue birds? I took a nice series of photos of a Red Bellied Woodpecker getting her nesting hole just perfect!
It is a wonderful time of year, birds, bugs and blooms!

  9. Oh, his body looks so soft and fluffy and fuzzy. I want to touch it, in your photo. But of course, a human touch would injure. So... no... Not for real. :-)

  12. Mari-Nanci,
I think it is okay to touch butterflies. You do have to be careful not to brush off their scales.
I am so happy I saw a butterfly. That will keep me going another week at least!

  13. Dear Tom,
LOL! I know what you mean. Cabbage Whites can cause lots of damage!
They are considered a pest by some gardeners. I like them!
Spring will be in your neck of the woods very soon!

  16. Dear Cat,
Thank you so much! I am honored.
It has been rather chilly so I have not seen butterflies yet!
Last year I had all sorts in MArch.
Glad it is starting to warm up some and the butterflies are emerging.
    I do love them!
