  1. It is good to see that you didn't blow away last night Sherry. The winds coming across the plains were awaful.

  2. Dear Lisa,
Oh no, you were fooled. I am approaching this day with caution!
The winds were terrible for a few minutes in the morning. Calm than came in for most of the day. South of me really had the storms.
A cold front dropped down over night. Temps dropped from 70 degrees to 32 degrees! The rest of the week is to be chilly. I am ready to work outside!
Gardening in April is my favorite time...planting seeds! Oh joy!

  3. Happy April to you! We're still having snow...over a foot in the past week, although the new stuff melts off quite quickly. Supposed to have a couple of days of high 40's this week but nights well below freezing. I'm anxious, anxious! Nice post, Sherry!

  6. This is my first post on your blog...I came across it the other day. I love your pictures, and love reading what you have to say. I think we live in the same general area (we live in Kansas, south of KC).

I'm new to birding...just started feeding the birds this winter. I had a wonderful time watching and feeding the birds...until, the starlings arrived in droves.

Now, I only put out seed they don't like. I know they are hungry also, but my gosh, they just wipe all the feeders out. I have put cages around the tube feeders, which keeps them out.

Please tell me that these pests will eventually leave. I'd love to think that I'll only have a few of these guys through next winter-like I did this last winter, and it won't be until March or so when tons of them arrive.

Happy April 1st to you and everyone! :)

  10. Dear Cheryl,
I kept my wits about me all day!
    LOL!
Mother Nature tried to fool me a couple of times but I was on to her...not butterflies only blowing leaves.

  11. Dear Gracie,
Welcome to birding! So happy you are feeding the birds. Yes, the Starlings will clean out a feeder rather quickly! I like to think of them as Hawk food!
Sounds as if you are doing a great job of dicouraging them. Once they have no food for a few days they will move on. I have seen my Mockingbird chase Starlings. I also have seen a Cooper's Hawk catch one.
We are in the same area! So nice to meet someone so near.
    Come again soon.
    Sherry

So good to hear from you!
Are you back from Mexico? I will pop over and see if you are gardening yet.
I did draw Wee Bird and Wee Bee a few years ago. LOL!!
    Happy Springtime to you too!
