GORGEOUS photos! How wonderful to have hummingbirds visiting throughout the day. We have had 2 feeders filled with nectar for a while now ~ I hope they find our garden soon.
Aren't they sweet? I absolutely love them. And you describe them to a T. The male is bold and the female skitterish. Our rest on my clothesline and then come to the feeder. I once found a nest in the hedge, but it was in the fall. I am not sure, but it was so tiny, I think it might have been a hummer's. Flying jewels - aren't they?
Dear Deb, Thanks I was pleased with these pictures. He is a handsome little guy! I hope the Hummers find you soon too. There was a few here in early May and than a week went by with out a trace of them. Now I have been seeing two males and no females. It seems to be a strange Hummingbird year! Sherry
Dear Wendy, They are flying jewels! So sweet too. I love their little chatter. I bet you did find a Hummers nest. I have never seen a nest in person. After thiry years of feeding them I think it is time for them to nest in my gardens! LOL Sherry
These photos are such a treat! How beautiful. I was mourning the fact that the Indian Mynah birds have frightened away all the lovely little native birds that used to come to visit our Grevilleas. I miss them so.
Hi Tom, I was thinking the other day aboput the video you made last year of all the Hummers at your feeder! I have seen two males and one female. There are five or six neighbors that feed the Hummingbirds plus lots of flowers. I would think the Hummingbird population would increase around here but it seems to stay about the same year to year. I too enjoy the up close pictures. Sherry
Dear Meggie, I tell my little birds all the time to "buck up and be aggressive". Not sure they listen to me! Always sad when non-natives take over, plants, bugs and birds! (oh, it also happened with people in my country!) Sherry

ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome couple. I hope they nest in your garden too. What great pictures you could get.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he needs a napkin in the first photo. I little left over blossom on his bill.
