Great photos as always. The butterflies must really enjoy those apples, so sweet, and it must give them energy. A good reason to leave a few windfalls on the ground for them.
Dear Chris, These perfect days are few and far between. I tried to stay out the entire day, just coming in for a drink of water. There are many butterflies that like rotting fruit. No one lives in my neighbor's house right now. I am enjoying the apples on the ground for the first year ever! The bees and deer and butterflies are also having a grand time. Sherry
Dear Belen, The butterflies are so happy to have the sweet apple juice they do not notice me. I do walk slowly up to them so as not to scare them. Sherry
Dear Wren, I bet if I sat near my neighbor's tree I would see some fruit eating birds come too. I set fruit out for the Orioles and I see many birds in the spring enjoying grape jelly. I think I will set up a chair on the next pretty day and see who does come to the apple tree. Sherry
Oh Sherry, that first picture is a perfect fall photo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a clear, vivid pic of the red-spotted purple butterfly. He's really gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSounds similar to our great day...temps above 70 after a stretch of 60's. It's great that the butterflies enjoy the apples too!
ReplyDeleteSherry you must be so quietly as a cat to be able to
ReplyDeletemake this pictures of the butterflys. I love the clear septembrer light of the first picture.

Dear Shelia,
ReplyDeleteIt is a very good idea to leave some apples or pears to rot for the butterflies and bees.
Thank you.
