Hawks and Wrens

I was outside enjoying a bit of sunshine

when I heard the Hawks.
A pair soared over the house.

The Carolina Wren heard them too.

When he saw me he forgot all about the Hawks.
He was more interested in the plate of food I had brought out.

  1. That hawk is beautiful, look at those wings!

The little wren must have decided you could take Mr. Hawk with one hand--no reason to be afraid, let's eat.

  3. I have to agree with marmee. My hubby also likes to watch hawks. And I think that little wren looks so happy to be eating the food you put out.

  4. That red-tail is handsome. I just love those little wrens though. You have captured such good expressions on the wren. You can see how lively they are through your lens.

  5. Dear Marnie,
At first little Carolina Wren was skittish with the hawks hunting over head. (Although I do not think a Red tailed hawk would try for a quick little wren)
I thought he was very cute.

  7. Dear Lisa,
I also thought the Carolina Wren showed lots of personality!
I had a few posts yesterday because I took so many photgraphs. The weather was warm and lots was going on!

  8. Dear Marmee,
My husband and I are also Hawk watchers. I think the Redtails are finding food across the street in the cemetery.
I brought out blueberries yesterday. I thought some of the birds would like them. Today I have corn for the squirrels.
The wildlife eat a varied diet!

  9. Dear Wendy,
Carolina Wren is one of my favorite birds. I just love their song and they are friendly.
It is cloudy and windy today. Not a good Hawk watch day. I love to watch them float on the thermals...

  10. Sherry, I think this is the first time I've seen a Carolina Wren looking forward - don't we usually photography their profiles? Cute little bird. I would have thrown myself over the little thing to protect.

I like the hawk overhead, too!

  11. Dear Mary,
Sometimes I take Tea Kettle's photograph when he is looking at me. I guess it depends on what is going on.
My husband always says I would not like Cooper so much if he got Tea Kettle...my husband is right. I am fond of the Wrens.
