Sherry, You have been so busy this week! I can feel the creative spirit flowing and inspiring all of us. I'm not artistic at all and not very good at crafts, but I am going to try to learn a few more this year, especially knitting and/or crocheting. Your weavers' group sounds helpful and supportive.
I do attempt poetry at times, though. The haiku is lovely in its simplicity, but harder to write than it appears. Here is one I wrote last summer for a post on my coneflowers:

very lovely, sherry! i am not the poetic one in the family though, darling hubby is. but i certainly appreciate a good haiku. my dh and i took a writing class i guess about a year ago and tried our pens at haiku and other forms of writing. it is all very fascinating to me. i am so happy for you that you are exploring all these new sides of you and that the fiber meeting went better than expected and now you have a wonderful new group to enjoy your craft with. sometimes just getting yourself to go is the hardest part, kudos to you for going. here's to you for opening yourself up and to enjoying all things creative.
Wouldn't you love to know what Basho was doing on a mountain with the yam diggers?
I will think about this and see what I can come up with. I know there is a haiku in this brain of mine that has been saturated with watercolors for awhile.

You are making beautiful "music" Sherry with colours and poems and weaving. I had never heard of Haiku until I read it on another blog a couple of months ago. Couldn't make head or tail of it. Thanks for explaining haiku. Don't think I could come up with anything. My poems are just silly fun. Rose and Marmee have done well! Here goes:

Dear Sue, A little different Friday! In 2009 I think maybe we can come together a wee bit and play.... Writing a Haiku is fun. It does not have to be profound. A playful Haiku is a delight to read and write. I hope to do a self publish little chat book for all of us. I am thinking about covers. LOL, something from my paper crafts! Thinking about the world of corporate publishing, the artist and the haiku. I like grass roots and Etsy Shops. I was in Portland a couple of years ago. My daughter and I were shopping at the farmers market and we met a poet that was selling his poems. We bought a couple. I love that.. poems and musk melons. Dear Cheryl, Thank you! Slide shows are fun but after so many I think a break is in order. we can always look at last year's! This post actually took longer for me to put together than a slide show. I am so happy you have your pens out! This is exciting. I have a set my daughter gave me many years ago and I never took the time to learn how to use them. Dear Rose, The winter will give way and before I know it the soils will be calling! I am so glad my gardens are old...I do have a couple of new ones to put in this spring. I still want to do my Stumpwork Embroidery, at least get started. I do not have any beading needles. Will have to find some. I hope you find a knitting group. I have meet a lady who says she can teach me and we can knit together once a week....she lives near too. Your Haiku is fantastic! I see the bees all over those coneflowers! Dear Lisa, I thought the very same thing! I have a visual of Basho and the Yam Diggers.... Basho does NOT have a stick. LOL After reading so many of his haiku I feel as if I sort of know him. If you have a minute and a haiku just wants to spring forth it would be fun. I am thinking it would be nice to have collection of our haiku...a little something for our pockets.. Dear Cheryl, Loons are fun....there are different ones too. I would have never known but my daughter has a Master's in poetics and she made me the little Poetic Forms book that i took the picture of.
loon... a collection of letters: 3 I am 5 happy 3 now.

There are also lune....
Poetry is very fun...these little forms make it so that anyone can find a poem in their hat...
I think it would be very nice to add a poem to my sleeve. A loon would be perfect. Easy to embroider. I like the clothing manufacturer I buy from sometimes, Flax. Inside each item there is a little written "encouragement". I like words in my clothing.

Dear Dee, I too like the look of the hand written haiku. For some reason it seems that is the way they should be written. At the end of the month I hope to make all of us little Haiku books.
