ABC Wednesday

ABC Wednesday's letter this week is S.

S is for Swallowtail.

It was serendipitous I saw her.

I sauntered about the garden

and spotted a Silver Spot sunning.

I am surrounded by s.

The Sparrows eat the seeds I serve.

Strawberries on spinach with spearmint makes a scrumptious Saturday salad.
Sprinkled with sunflower seeds it is sensational; sesame seeds are nice too but I usually save them for the stir fry.

Stevia is my secret ingredient for iced coffee or tea.

It is much sweeter than sugar.

The soapwort is in bloom.

The scent of the Chinese Lilac subdues me.

I succumb to Summer.

I am inspired by ABC Wednesday!

  3. I feel like I am enjoying nature on a rainy day! I bought some Stevia but I haven't gotten used to the taste yet. I can't tolerate much sugar so I'm hoping this will be a good substitute!

  7. I meant to comment on your soapwort - no one that I know grows it. I call it our monster plant because it will get as big as we will let it but Bob really cuts it back to about 3 or 4x4 then it goes wild and smells heavenly. Do you keep yours very big?

  8. Beautiful!!

And, I love that an Indigo Bunting has found your place. I've only seen one or two since we left the farm, over 5 years ago.

  13. Thanks for the visit to my Swallowtail. I see you are a bug expert. How can you tell the difference in male and female? I was so surprised to see mine. It is the first of it's kind to come my way. - Margy

  14. That was very clever Sherry, well put together!

Your photos are lovely, I would love to see a Swallowtail, we do have them here, but not in our area. The Sparrow looks very much like our Tree Sparrow, which again, sadly, we only see in some parts of the UK now, I have not seen one since I was a child.

    A great post!

  20. Such beautiful S's, Sherry! It was serendipity indeed to see the swallowtail--such a beautiful butterfly. I still haven't seen any butterflies here yet; maybe they're just beginning to make their way north.
