Sunday Safari

I watched the birds in my backyard today.

The Blue Jays are hunting acorns.

The Juncos hunt for scattered seed.

The House Sparrows

hide in the bushes and the trees watching and waiting to come to the deck for seed.
We are preparing the gardens for winter.
Happy Sunday Safari.

  1. Dear Sherry....beautiful bird photographs.....I love the Blue Jay, he is very similar to our Jay. I have them in the area but never quite manage to get a picture of him.

Winter is not far away.......Mother Nature is whipping up another storm here.....she is still so angry.

Mr P and I had to take the top of the Eucalyptus tree yesterday. She is a much loved feature. We planted her when we moved here. We took around 5 metres (15 feet) from her crown. It is not a good time to do it but we both knew she would fall if we did not.

    Stay well.....stay strong.......

  4. Sherry,
That is the best photo I have ever seen of an House Sparrow. Glad we live far enough away in the country that we don't have them. The Bluejay is excellent also.

  5. You're already seeing little juncos! Very pretty photos...so clear and sharp! It's dark, cold and gloomy here today and I didn't get to go to the park.

  6. Your blue jay is so clear. And I love that little junco. What an amazing angle - you can see the definition of it's colours so well. Yes, winter is on it's way. We've been lucky. November has been a sunny and gentle month.

However, 35 years ago today, we had a major snowstorm. How do I know? My daughter was born then. She is the mother of Jasmine and Nathan.
    Happy Sunday Safari.
    Stay strong.

  7. You know, I always think of the sparrow as such a common bird, nothing spectacular. But you have captured this one, Sherry, in a magnificent pose--it's much too beautiful here to be considered common!

  12. These are really beautiful Sherry, the House Sparrow is a gorgeous photo and like Rose I think it looks very special for such a 'common' bird. Although having said that, it is not nearly as common here as it was and where once I would barely take notice of them it is now a notable occasion when one visits my garden.

  13. Are you sure you didn't come to our garden to take the pictures.
We watch the same birds here in Guildwood.
After a beautiful warm November, the weather will change very soon and snow will arrive.
I love winter, my camera will be very busy.
Thank you for visiting and commenting.

  16. These are amazing bird photos.
My,my, what a wealth, you have your own birds in your backyard.
How do you make these photos?
Do you hide and wait for them or they are not afraid of people?
I am not able to capture even a butterfly.
