I put a few pear pieces out just in case a
butterfly woke up
and was hunting for sweet juice.
The bees also like rotting fruit.
I was so very excited to see
the first butterfly of the season.
The wind shifted to the northwest.
The temperatures began to drop.
Snow is on the way.

Sherry,
ReplyDeleteI have seen a few anglewings but none have allowed close inspection yet! We did see a Spring Azure on Sunday!
Enjoyed the photos!
Sherry, I love the shadow under the butterfly in that first photo!
ReplyDeleteexcellent photos but please keep any snow you get ;-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Sherry,
ReplyDeleteI love this post. It is a new season in my life, living in a new city and starting from scratch. I feel a bit like a butterfly out of place surrounded by all those bees.
Thank you for always being a source of inspiration.

Mel (in Cusco!!)
Beautiful photos! The Cabbage Whites are out here, and I even saw a couple of Variegated Fritillaries last week. What a brilliant color they were!
ReplyDeleteA butterfly already! I didn't see many last year, I hope there will be more in 2010.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they changed our forecast! We were expecting snow on Sunday, now they are say 50° and rain. Much better!
Thank goodness you got these photos before the snow arrives. I like the way the sun was shining through the butterfly's wings. It snowed a foot here in Denver today!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos Sherry. I haven't seen a bee or a butterfly in my garden yet. We were sitting on the patio the other day and my DB saw a butterfly pass by the apple tree but I couldn't find it. Happy Spring.
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry....Oh my, sweet butterfly....her wings are a trifle worn, but her beauty shines through.
ReplyDeleteI read in the paper today that our butterflies would have suffered in the harsh winter. Many would have fallen to the low temperatures. I am hoping my gardens provided shelter and sanctuary for them. Time will tell.
I had tears in my eyes when I saw your photograph....spring is here, and my heart beats a little faster.......
I hope to do safari tomorrow. It is my sons birthday and we are all going out for a family lunch.....I have a feeling it will be a long lunch......
Ahh ..beautiful post Sherry!
ReplyDeleteYour butterfly warmed my heart, thank you!
ReplyDeleteSo so sweet.
