I am admiring them
while I put away Christmas.
while I put away Christmas.
Eating my water is delicious!
Pomegranates are a delightful nibble
and peeled grapefruit make a tasty snack.
It is very cold outside.
Once again I will bundle up for walking.
I have made a commitment to living
a sustainable, waste free, full use,
delicious life.
For me it is awareness
and a willingness to change old habits.
My daughter gave me two skeins of alpaca yarn
and a yarn bowl made by a local artist, for my birthday.
It is enough for me to sit by the window and knit.
It is enough to watch the birds come and go.
I am content.
It is a new age for me.
Time to let go of the sadness
of the past.
I send blessings every day.
I do not forget but I am finding joy.
I am gladdened by the simple story
of a life well lived.
I also want to write a poem
on my hat.
I also want to take a long walk.
In 2004 my daughter sent me a
tiny book she made.
She sent me a leather journal
so I would have a place for my haiku.
In 2011, I shall write a haiku
every evening with my new mechanical pencil
my husband gave me for my birthday.
This is my way of expressing wabi sabi.
Happy Sunday Safari.

Dear Sherry,
ReplyDeleteI too am learning to celebrate each day and let go of the sadness of the past, trying to be grateful for the blessings and the hapiness that I had, that I have and that I will have.
Besos,
Mel

What a wonderful way to begin the New Year, Sherry! I, too, have vowed to eat healthier this year; I should check out the books you have shown here. I am knitting, too, but I'm so slow--I'm hoping to get Granddaughter's scarf done before spring:) Love the yarn bowl! May 2011 bring you peace and much joy, Sherry.
