Sunday Safari

Once again fair skies called to me.

Once again I took my coffee and books to the deck.

We remember Abraham Lincoln's birthday today.

I read his poetry and thought about him as a Father.
I thought about history.

Charles Darwin was also born on February 12, 1809.

Valentine's Day is soon.
It is the day we celebrate love.
I thought about growing roses while sitting in the sun.
I thought about love.
I picked up my book and soon I was transported.
I forgot about the birds and the cold wind.

I am learning about the culture of Iran.
I am learning about the art and the music of this ancient land.

I too am dancing.
I too am honoring love.

Happy Sunday Safari.

  2. Nice little critters in your backyard, Sherry. We've had a cold weekend, but milder temps are forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday.

Glad you could get outside on your deck. Interesting books you find to read. I love Rumi's poetry.
    Happy Sunday Safari

  3. I was just thinking it looked a bit cold to be sitting out on the deck when I scrolled down to the photo of the squirrel--he looks as though he's shivering, too:) Wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day, Sherry!

P.S. My woodpeckers have finally arrived here. I have a new camera and have been learning how to use it--they have been very patient models for me.

  4. I didn't know that Lincoln and Darwin shared a birthday. Your Carolina Wren looks like he's hamming it up for the camera, but Carolina Wrens always look like they're hamming it up. Lol

  6. Dear Sherry,

I am glad you are enjoying warm days. How are the butterflies in your house ?? Enjoying window time perhaps !

Yesterday was bitterfly cold. I not feel my fingers when I fed the birds. Everytime I filled the water holders they froze.
Today should see the start of warmer days :)

Time for books......time to think about those we love.....have a wonderful Valentine's day.

    Happy Sunday safari.

  7. Two more famous people born on Feb 12 are my twin Grandchildren! I like thinking that you can sit in the sun on your deck enjoying the birds and squirrels. Soak up some Vit D for me, too.

  8. Still too cold for me to spend a lot of time outdoors, although it is getting milder. The sun was well up when I went out for my walk.
I never knew Abraham Lincoln was a poet! I will have to check his work out...
