Full Frost Moon

During the night the moon turned full.

The clouds came in.

A light snow is falling.
Full frost at my house.

Happy Full Frost Moon.

You captured some wonderful shots of the moon! First frost? That's cool!

Dear Chris,
Thank you!
I am sitting with my little heater on and watching a lovely snowfall this morning.
My husband and I took photos of the moon late last night before the heavy cloud cover.
The snow will not stay around too long, it is to warm up a bit this afternoon.
The birds always come out whenever it snows.

Dear Mon@rch,
Not first frost...just Full Frost Moon!
I do love it when it snows. The birds do not mind me being on the deck with them!
Enjoy the moon light.

It doesn't look a bit like green cheese to me. :-)

It's overcast down here to your south, too, but not cold enough for snow.

Hi MArvin,
LOL! Just lots of rock!
I do enjoy the moon. Guess I am a romatic.
The cold air could easily drop down your way! I have seen pictures of ice storms in your area.

Happy Full Frost Moon Sherry :-}
It is cold & windy here today. Kate & I did a bit of Christmas shopping - the shops were warm and playing Christmas tunes ... many had plates of cookies out too :-} Hope you are having a lovely Saturday.

That moon was bright last in my area. Right now a thin clouds giving it a fuzzy look to it.

Our dog, Luna, is named after the full moon. No wonder she has wanted in and out of the house so frequently tonight. It is lovely.

How ever did you get such nice photos of the moon?

It belongs to my Granny, you know. Grandpa gave it to her a very long time ago. We all comment on the size and colour of "Granny's Moon", at least, that's what it was called when I was growing up. She swears it has never been the same since that rascal Neil Armstrong set afoot of it. She hates him.

Happy Full Frost Moon, dear Sherry! We had a hard frost, too! The birds are scrambling for food.

I also wonder how to protect my camera in the rain and snow (if either come to me).

Enjoy your snowfall...

Dear Deb,
Thank you! Many of the shops around my area have Christmas open house. They will serve hot cider and cookies and often have specials.
We do not have gift exchanges any more. Our trip to see our daughter is our gift to each other. We started a few years ago giving the kids money. It works out best for them that way.
I do remember all the Christmas celebrations we used to go to. Years ago I would have 30 plus gifts to get together for family. I made them. I would sew or make baked goods, that sort of thing. I would have hostess gifts too. Slowly that has changed! I like both ways. Right now the simple works best for me.
Have lots of fun shopping with Kate. These are fun days for you and your family.
Hugs,
Sherry

Dear Cathy,
I think the clouds around the Moon look very nice! This Moon looked cold!
It will not be too long now before Solstice. I am looking forward to the daylight growing longer.
Bundle up and stay warm.

Dear Lisa,
Luna is a lovely name. I also kept going in and out to take peeks of the Full Moon.
She is beautiful!

Dear Saucy,
Tripods are great for long distance shots!
I know the New Moon as the Grandmother Moon. How fun you call the Full Moon, "Granny's Moon"!
My moon is the waxing Cresent. If Venus is near I am head over heels.
I love moon stories!

Dearest Sprite,
Thank you!
Happy Full Frost Moon to you too.
Stay warm!

Dear Jayne,
Zoom-zoom-zoom! The clouds around the Moon were taken with a shorter zoom. This photo is over exposed but I wanted to capture the clouds and that was the only way I could get it.
I have seen the cameras in the telescopes. They are very cool! Maybe someday...

Dear Mary,
LOL! Someday rain will once again grace your area. Bless your birds.
Without you the birds would be thirsty and hungry.
The killing frost is nice. The plants get a chance to rest.
I saw a cool camera set up at Squaw Creek. The camera and the lens was in rain gear. So was the photographer.
The snow did not last very long.
More is coming...

Hey my name is Byron. I was leaving my friends house Saturday night when I looked at the moon and it was brighter than usual. Not only that, but there was like a white barrier around it. Can you explain what I saw?

Q said...

Hi Bryon,
Nice to meet you. Sometimes the full moon looks extra large!
I would venture a guess on your white barrier, I think you saw ice crystals. Our Full Moon had some clouds around her. I try and take a full moon photo every month. I do think the moon is beautiful!
Hope to see you again soon.
