Happy New Clover Moon

The morning snow showers dampened
the morning chorus.

No fresh clover for the New Clover Moon.

The snow is very fine.

This pair stays near each other.
It is mating season.

Happy New Clover Moon.

Sherry,
Great shots of your cardinals, and so bright!
Most of my family is in northeast Oklahoma, and they get a lot of the same weather as you do. Doesn't it seem like winter is lasting forever this year?

Sherry, I'm overwhelmed by these photos - and dismayed by the snow - another shot here a few days ago and temp hasn't reached 50. Soon, though. Again, these photos are superb - the first one 'in flight' is WOW,

That's a wonderfully fanned-out flyer!
What a beautiful snapshot of an already beautiful bird.

Dear Cheryl,
I was not going to post right slide show but I was leaving for the day and wanted to say, "Happy New Moon."
The snow was a surprise. I counted 36 Cardinals on the deck last night. It was crazy. A Cardinal party!

And Happy New Clover Moon to you, also.

Is he feeding her, as yet? I love to watch the males feed the female Cardinals in Spring.

Dear Sandi,
Winter does seem extra long this year. Maybe because I am older and the cold is harder to endure!
The snow showers did not last very long.
We do get lots of our weather from the south-west. Your family in Oklahoma would be a little bit warmer than here. They will see the Hummingbirds before I do!

Dear Sue,
We are to have a warm up this coming week. I hope this snow shower was the last one for this winter. You had so much snow I bet you will be happy to see color again.
I liked this series of photos glad you did too. I really should post more bird in flight pictures.
No clovers for my New Moon.
LOL

Dear Nina,
She is my favorite! The snow shower brought out a large number of Cardinals. This winter I have seen more Cardinals than ever before. I counted 40 the other day! A flock of Cardinals. They are pretty. The morning chorus is also very beautiful with so many Cardinals singing.

Dear Tom,
I do have other birds at the feeders but I seem to take pictures of the Cardinals. LOL
Maybe because there are so many of them or maybe because they are so bright...
I too enjoy them.

Dear Mark,
Hi! I have not seen you for awhile.
I will pop over and see what pictures you have taken this winter.
The male Cardinals are bright! They are a nice sized bird too, not too big.
I am very pleased to have a nice population of Cardinals in the backyard. They kept my spirits up all winter.

Dear Mari-Nanci,
I have not seen seed giving yet!
I am watching. I too love the rituals the birds have. Seed giving is one of the sweetest!
I hope to get a few pictures like I did last year.
Spring is trying to come. We are to have a warm up this coming week. I need a warm up!

Dear Mel,
I think the Cardinals come out in force when ever we have a weather event. They were crowding around the feeders while the snow swirled about. I had to keep cleaning the lens on the camera. It kept getting wet!

Dear Cat,
Thank you!
I thought the snow was extra nice! If it was going to be too cold to be outside it might as well snow!
LOL! It was a wet snow and did not stay around very long.
Glad you enjoyed this essay.

The Mrs looks like she is standing in air on her wings. Isn't it fun seeing the birds pairing up.? Spring is right around the corner despite the snow.

Q said...

Dear Lisa,
Spring is very near! I am savoring each day. Watching her wake up.
The Cardinals are fun to watch. Their behavior does change as they establish their territories and mates.
With so many to watch I almost always have a pair to zoom in om!
