Every afternoon the Nuthatches come to the feeders.
They come at 3pm, central bird time.
Today they wanted my attention.
I think the chirps and the wing displayThey come at 3pm, central bird time.

has something to do with nuts.
The Downy Woodpeckers were on the nut feeder.
I calmed Mr. White-Breasted Nuthatch down.
There are nuts in little dishes too.
Plenty of nuts for everyone.

Thank you for posting..

You really know your birds, Sherry. I know, too. Nuthatches wait their turn but always get their share. Nuts are very popular. My aggressive Mocker has learned that there is plenty for everyone!
Sherry this is a great series of photos. They show the personality of that little nuthatch. It is so animated.
These are such stunning photos of an amazing Nuthatch! I just love watching them learn!
Dear Gisela,
I do enjoy the birds!
The Nuthatch is rather new to my backyard. They have been around now for about a year. I am trying to learn as much as I can about them.

What glorious images Sherry! Love the nuthatches too!
Dear Mary,
I was tickled with Mr. Nuthatch. I have four nut feeders plus I have a few bowls of mixed nuts on the deck. This little guy was irritated that the Woodpeckers were on "his" nutfeeder! Lots of woodpeckers this year. I will need to set up another nut feeder before too long for the babies. I remember last year when the little ones arrived. I had Nuthatches everywhere! With so many Downy Woodpeckers I could have nut trouble. Another feeder will help.
Nuthatch is just one of many bird languages I am learning. They are patient birds up to a point!

Dear Lisa,
My husband also thought this series showed the Nuthatch's personality. I also think it showed a bit of the relationship I am developing with the Nuthatch.

Dear Tom,
Mr. Nuthatch did get a nut from a bowl since the Downy Woodpeckers were not leaving the nutfeeder.
I would really enjoy Mr. Nuthatch getting a nut from the bowl I keep next to my chair. I hope Nuthatch will become more comfortable with me. I have not seen the female for a week. I wonder where she is?

Dear Jayne,
They are fun birds. I hope to see Red Breasted again. My bird book says they are winter visitors. I may not see them again until next year.
Last year when the baby Nuthatches came they were so curious. My husband and I sat on the deck and laughed at how the parents tried to keep the little ones together and focused.
Watching the birds is fun.

Sherry,
Lovely series of pictures!
Wish I could see that guy in action ;)
Dear Mel,
He is so cute!
One of these days I will get a video camera and do movies of the backyard birds and butterflies.

Dear Readers,
Such a long and unnecessary comment I deleated.
