It was very cold, 25 degrees F,
when I went outside to feed the birds.
The sky was clear and the sun felt warm.
The Doves were cooing and the Cardinals were singing.
The Robins chimed in.
I sat with my morning hot tea and listened
to the early spring morning chorus.
There are many Cardinals this year.
The males have begun to chase each other.
The Robins are finding food.when I went outside to feed the birds.

How I do not know, the ground is frozen.
Another pair of Downy Woodpeckers has arrived.
Three pairs now are coming to the suet and peanuts.
I have not seen the Hairy Woodpeckers for a few days.
Six Blue Jays came for peanuts this morning.
They cleared the gardens with their warning cries.

Oh, Sherry, you have so many beautiful birds. The photo of the male Cardinal in flight made my heart skip a beat. The males are getting very competitive here, too :o)
I'd love to has as many woodpeckers.
What a stunning photograph of the cardinal in flight Sherry!
That is a stunning photo of the bird in flight!
Do the Blue Jays chase the others away?
Beautiful male Cardinal in flight. I can just see the blue jays causing a fuss when they swoop in to get peanuts.
The birds are so beautiful Sherry and so different from the birds we have here.
lol
Dear Mari-Nanci,
Thank you.
Lots of Cardinals flying about in the backyard.
Sherry
Dear Mary,
I should take more birds in flight pictures. Glad you enjoyed this one.
Are you watching the Cardinals chase each other? The females are not involved just yet. All about territory. I am only the restaurant. I just cannot provide lodging for all the birds. I do the best I can.
I am looking at my front yard. I think I could put another hedge in. That would give more berries and nesting. I love thinking about ways to provide for the birds.
Sherry
Dear Deb,
Thank you. I did put it as my desktop picture!

Dear Meggie,
The Blue Jays come flying in and they have a warning call. It is to warn the other birds a hawk or a cat is about. Sometimes it is true and sometimes Mr.Jay just wants the feeders to himself!
Yesterday six came in! So loud and all they wanted was a snack.
Sherry
Dear Lisa,
Sometimes I think the birds will fly into each other. I have been spreading the seed out more. I think it is helpful. Not as good for group photo but really I am more interested in what is good for the birds than for me!
LOL, if it is good for the birds it is good for me!
Sherry
Dear Cheryl,
The birds are beautiful. So are yours!! I have found my birds of Europe field guide so I can follow along with you!
Mel, just joined us. She is from Peru and has very colorful birds.
Meggie's birds in Australia are very different! I love that. I love all the variety. I love knowing you are caring for the birds in your backyard.
