Blue Jay

The only blue bird that comes to my feeders
is the Blue Jay.

I did see an Indigo Bunting two different times this month.
They were just passing through.

Last year a family of Blue Birds
were across the street in the cemetery.
I have not seen them this year.

The Blue Jays are year round residents.
They were successful already this year.

I saw three Jays on the deck.
They acted as if they were family.
They all looked exactly alike.
I thought this Jay was the dad since he
seemed to be keeping an eye out for danger.

Don't they just make you think that they are made of steel? They are so handsome. Lucky that they come by during the summer. Ours are more noticable during winter.

Don't they love to pose? Great photos, I have trouble getting close to jays. We have had a mother jay and baby around this spring. Usually, we don't see the jays at all during nesting season.

I love the bluejay..even though he tends to be a bully at the feeders!

I missed visiting you!

Jays can be pretty agressive. Perhaps he is protecting his feeder from other birds. He is very hansome, none the less.

Great photos of the jay.

We don't feed during the summer but because we're surrounded by woods, we still see plenty of birds. Of those in the blue variety, bluebirds and and indigo buntings have been regular visitors. For a while there, a male bluebird was having frequent territorial disputes with himself in windows and vehicle mirrors, but that has passed.

Lovely photos of the bluejay. I know they are supposed to be bullies, but I enjoy watching them nonetheless. We don't have bluebirds, so the jays are the next best thing.

Dear Lisa,
I think the Blue Jays are handsome birds too. The Cardinals do not like them very much! LOL

Dear Sandi,
This Jay stayed perched on the deck ball for some time while the other two Jays were getting nuts and seeds. He seemed to be on lookout!

Dear Anna,
The Toronto Blue Jays are a fun baseball team to watch!
If it stays cool our peonies could last another couple of weeks. We would be in peoney time together.
I know you will enjoy the blooms when they open.
Namaste,
Sherry

Dear Scienceguy288,
I think he was showing the kids around.
They can be aggressive.
Mockingbird sort of keeps every one in line!

Dear MArvin,
I wish the Blue Birds would come to my feeders. I would get meal worms for them if they did!
The Indigo Buntings are incredible. I was wowed when I saw them this sring. Wish they would have stayed a spell for pictures.
Nice you are close to the woods.
I am sure I wouild love living in the woods.....
City sidewalks and streets, power lines and stop signs are my surroundings. I feed the birds knowing so much of their habitat has been destroyed.
I enjoy your bug pictures so very much.

Dear Deb,
I have catching up to do with you too! Seems as if time sped up this past month. My wellness work takes me awhile every day and I still want to be with the birds as much as possible. Soon, very soon the butterflies will be here every day.
I shall pop over for a sip of tea and to pat Ben.

Dear Cheryl,
It is fun to see birds from different countries. We often take our common birds for granted. I like the Blue Jays.
