This year I did my May baskets
with Lavender and Peppermint.
I can always add ribbons and cut flowers.
I cut a bit of Sweet Woodruffwith Lavender and Peppermint.
I can always add ribbons and cut flowers.
for my May wine.
It will steep all day.
Tonight my husband and I will toast.
I planted the window boxes with herbs this year,
I used Pineapple Sage and Pineapple Mint.
I slipped in a few Red Saliva for color
until the Sage and Mint blooms.
The kitchen smells so sweet.

I wish I did things like you :)
I'll toast for you too, for a happy and blessed life!
How wonderful Sherry, you are so romantic. Sweet woodruff is wonderful isn't it.
Your window boxes are so pretty and the May basket is the finishing touch.
A beautiful post from a lady with a soul.
Dear Mel,
My May wine is apple juice and sliced apples with Sweet Woodruff.
It is yummy.
May baskets are fun to do . Leftover ones can either be planted in my gardens or I can take them to the graves on Memorial Day.
Lavender is my "herb of the year" for 2008. I have a lavender hedge and I think I will begin to grow another.
Thank you for your blessings.
I am feeling so much better than I did. I can bend and stretch and reach for the stars again!
Sherry
Dear Cheryl,
I am a romantic...a practical romantic!
The herbs are perennials in my area so I will transplant them come fall. I have a spot in the garden picked out for the mint.
If I have any May bakets left over I will plant them too...
LOL...
Happy May,
Sherry
I do like your baskets, and the May wine sounds delish. But most of all I like the May Pole on your lawn. What a great idea, and so pretty with the ribbons fluttering in the wind.
xx
I'm so glad you like Sweet Woodruff. I don't care for the taste and so... I'm not as happy with May Wine as I wish I could be. -pout-
So I don't buy it anymore. But I love the sound of the name... May Wine.
And the name of Sweet Woodruff too. At one time, I had a best friend whose last name was Woodruff. :-))) She was such fun, that it makes me smile to think of her. Though she has passed over.
Memories live on...

Dear Shelia,
While I was working in the Red Bud flower bed yesterday a young Mother and her daughter stopped to look at my May pole. They were darling. I was happy too that I had an extra May basket to send home with them. The young Mother was very pleased. She said she really wanted to start a herb garden.
Happy May!
Sherry
The May Day baskets are just beautiful Sherry. I was wondering what you put into them. What a wonderful thing to give one to a young mother. Probably just the blessing she needed that day...and you too. It always feels so good to do something for someone else.
P.S. Your window box is goign to be gorgeous when it fills in. All that red will bring the hummers right into your kitchen. Here they seem to love the pineapple sage blossoms.
Dear Mari-Nanci,
Sweet Woodruff is a pretty herb that I grow as a ground cover. It grows in the shade and blooms white, little flowers. I like the flavor. I try to grow herbs in all the beds.
It is nice to remember our friends that have gone before us. Memories do live on and we can still love our friends be they near or far, far away!
Sherry
Dear Lisa,
Having the May baskets to give away is always fun for me!
I do them differently every year. Using the lavender and mint this year was nice. I am putting in another Lavender hedge this year.
Lavender is my herb of the year!
The window boxes look nice. I like the pineapple mint being varigated and the pineapple sage is already so tall...The Hummingbirds do usually come to my window boxes. I like sitting at the kitchen table and watching the hummers. I hope they like the Pineapple Sage. Come September I will plant all the herbs in back and do something different next year! LOL!
I so enjoy the herbs.
Sherry
