Dear Sherry; I like June as well! Our's arrived cool and cloudy, but the forecasters here are also saying it will be clearing around Tuesday or so. I can wait that long. Your Eastern Tiger is stunning! Will you be able to photograph the fire flies? I've only seen fire fly once in my life(can you believe THAT?!) Anyway, simply beautiful post, and once again; thank you. Love, Vikki
Hi Sherry, I just read your blog for the first time the other night - I am so, so enjoying it! It's particularly special to me - my husband and I (Chicago suburb natives) both went to KU and then lived in Overland Park for many years. We have since moved back to Naperville, IL, but I love seeing what is going on in KC - we miss it dearly! I am a gardener as well, but I love the other aspects of your blog just as much as the plants you grow - the bugs, the birds, the seasons, your way of living so consciously. You seem so ALIVE! You are making me slow down a bit and see beyond the clutter. I look forward to adding your blog to my list of "favorites" and checking in each day.
Thanks for your writings and wonderful photographs!
You have the loveliest butterflies visiting your garden. We have one cabbage white fluttering by :-}. Lots of action happening in your bee box too - how exciting!
Dear Cathy, I am very pleased to be back in Swallowtail Days! Over the last couple of years I have taken a few hundred photos of the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Hopefully this year I will be able to do lots of artsy photos. I too liked the first picture. Bird songs and butterfly wings, Sherry
Dear Mary, Thank you! As the season unfolds I hope to be able to show some relationship pictures. I like to think the Butterflies get to know me and enjoy having their picture taken. I have seen the Tigers flying over but none have been landing. Glad this one stopped for a snack. Once the Bee Balm blooms the butterflies will find me. It is one of their favorites. I am feeling much, much better. Having the Swallowtails about increases my vitality by one whole point! Sherry
Dear Vikki, Hope you can get some pictures of your butterflies. I see in my book Alaska has many! A couple of years ago my husband did take a picture of a firefly with his light on. I will post it! I also will try to get a few pictures when they start to light up the twilight. Sherry
Dear Laura, Thank you for your comment. I was thinking the other day how I have been blogging now for two years and maybe I have said everything there is to say! I have taken over 200,000 pictures in these last two years and most of them were in my backyard! Than here I go again outside for a series of a hundred Eastern Tiger Swallowtail pictures. I enjoyed being with the butterfly and while I am snapping away I am thinking about sharing this marvel with the world. I am hoping I will take the perfect picture of an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and every one will see how beautiful they are. Everyone will want to plant for the butterflies! I wonder why I do what I do....than you tell me how much you enjoy, how my little way has made you look beyond the clutter (inner as well as outter I do beleive) and see the beauty. I am looking forward to reading your journal and getting to know you. It is an honour to be on your favorites. I will keep looking for the beauty and sharing what I find. I will keep asking people to be mindful of the birds and bugs and the blooms. We will walk together. Namaste, Sherry
Dear Meggie, Thanks! Your are starting to cool down. Your butterflies will be taking a break for a few months. If all goes well, butterflies will be coming to my gardens now until November. I call these days Swallowtail Days! Sherry
Dear Deb, The female Mason Bee filled one tube. I hope she comes back if she has more eggs to lay. I also hope more MAsons come to my bee box. There are 40 holes! Lots of room for nesting. I am very pleased to see the butterflies again. It is rainy today so none are out. Lots of my butterfly flowers are slow to bloom this year. They will and I will see all my friends. I like Cabbage Whites. I think they are pretty. Sherry
Dear Sherry, I seem to get a little bit envious when I look at all this variety of bright-colored butterflies and birds. We have a very flat-colored nature here even in summer.. and your wonderful pictures remind me of my trips to Mediterranian, where colors are so bright.. so beautiful memories..
Dear Aluajala, We will have to bring in some color to your world! The Tiger Swallowtails are very bright yellow when they are new. As the summer moves forward they will fade. The Giant Swallowtail is also bright yellow... I do love the bright colors too. I have never been to the Mediterrian but I do grow Rosemary! Glad you enjoyed this essay. Sherry
Dear Lisa, The Painted Daisies come back every year and do very nicely in my late spring garden. I was very happy the Tiger found them. It is to be 90 this afternoon. Summer is here. Sherry
Dear Tom, I do love the butterflies. I am hoping to get some artsy shots this year of the Tigers. I do have a few hundred photos of them but I think they are pretty. LOL.. Sherry

You take the best butterfly photos. I took photos of an Eastern Tiger weeks ago and haven't seen one since!
Lovely, Sherry. You must be feeling so light!
