Firefly!

While my husband and I were walking
at dusk,
we saw our first firefly of the season!

I enjoy summer evenings watching the fireflies
and listening to the bug's chorus.

The Silver Spots are back.

The female Common Whitetail Dragonfly was patroling her territory.
I like bugs!

I love seeing the fireflies too! Reminds me of summers as a kid when we'd catch them. I can still hear us running and giggling through the yard.

Sherry that is a great capture of the firefly. They are such fun to see. Those little lanterns they carry light my way right back to my childhood summer evenings.

I look forward to my one night every June to dance with the fireflies..my girls too!(you know my furry girls) They jump into the air trying to catch the light dancing in the air! Oh what a memorable night it always is!! I can imagine your excitement when you captured these outsatanding images at night!!

Dear Vikki,
You are welcome!!!
Last night when we saw the firefly I thought of you.
These pictures my husband took a couple of years ago in our backyard. I hope to get some current photos now that firefly season has begun.
The Dragonfly has decided she wants the back patio area. Fine with me. I will be sure and keep the bird bath full in case she lays eggs.It is a large copper fire pit my son was finished with. Looked like a huge bird bath to me!
Namaste,
Sherry

Dear Jayne,
I too am reminded of summer evenings when I was a kid when I see the fireflies.
The fireflies hold a special place in my heart. I think it is their lights and the way they flicker off and on in search of a mate. Rather than using sound to do the attraction they use light. I love that. They remind me to let my light shine!

Dear Lisa,
Yes they do! I also think about when my kids were little and how much they enjoyed the fireflies...I squeal with delight when I see them. I point out and announce, "Firefly!" I want to make sure my husband does not miss even one!

Dear Anna,
I am waiting for a summer storm to hit. The wind has come up and the clouds are thick. It feels sticky outside...any minute I think it will begin. The energy is wonderful.
Summer is full of happy times and wonderous events. Yours with your girls sounds so fun. I miss my kitty.
Off and on all summer I will see dragonglies. I do adore them too.
Ahhhh...

Dear Deb,
The fireflies do say "summertime" to me too.
I have a little lapel pin of a firefly that I am so happy I bought when I found it. I enjoy wearing it in June to celebrate the return of the fireflies.

Dear Cheryl,
We do know how to have fun!
Being able to take pictures of the bugs and share them here is very fun.
Nice to know there are buggy folks out there. My friends do think I am somewhat touched...
Sherry, who would love to dance with a firefly
