just in case a butterfly emerged.
The Question Mark is very similar to the Eastern Comma.
There is also a Gray Comma in my area.
An identifying mark is the small white dot
under the comma on the underside of the wings.

There were bees out today too!

I think it is marvelous how you know the names of all these wonderful butterflies that come to visit! I learn so much here :-) thank you Sherry. We had our first big snow fall today.
Oh my Sherry. It is so late for these fellows. I would be surprised to see such things in our garden. You are lucky indeed.
I must echo Lisa's comments. You are lucky - to have such a warm day and to see these little creatures at this time of year. Lucky you had a pear to feed it.
I just love the shape of the wings. I had one tiny, brown moth keeping me company as I worked in 45-degree temps yesterday.

Dear Lisa,
The Commas and the Question Marks over winter as adults. I often see one or two in January if we get a couple of over 50 degree days. I hoped I would see a few butterflies when it jumped up to 64!
It is 16 degrees this morning...brr...hope all my butterflies found warm spots. I might need another wood pile for the butterflies.

Dear Wendy,
I am a lucky girl!
Butterflies, happy cards and hats keep me laughing and smiling.
I gladly share my pears with the bees and the butterflies.
Sherry
Dear Marnie,
A tiny winged creature sharing your day is fantastic. I love the way the bugs figure out food and lodging.
I like to think if any of them needed something they would let me know.

Dear Cheryl,
It is very cold today at my house. I think the wind is to shift again and bring southern warm air into my area. Up and down the temps do go. I love seeing the butterflies and bees when ever I get to.
If I go too long with out bee or butterfly contact I become lonely girl!
Hope you are staying warm!
BZZZZ
Sherry
