I too think they remember where they can safely find food and shelter on their journey north. It seems that once you have a couple more come each year. It is so exciting to have these lovely creatures in our midst even for just a week or two. Fablous photos Sherry.
How timely that you posted this today - I had my first ever Rose Breasted Grosbeaks just yesterday, both male and female! I guess my new birdfeeders and patience have paid off! I remember thinking that my parents were so dull for getting excited about birds - now I am right there with them! Thanks for sharing the pictures - they truly are beautiful birds!
Hi again Sherry, This morning as I was returning down the path from my studio to the house, there was the Rose-breasted Grosbeak! I was elated! Have seen two males and they seem quite calm around the bird feeders as my camera clicks away! Haven't seen the female...

What colourful little birds. It's lovely that they stop by, if only briefly, to eat and refresh themselves on their journey.
Have a good weekend..!
You have some of the best bird pictures. I love seeing the ones that I don't ever get to see in my neck of the woods :)

Oh Sherry.....they are so beautiful. I am glad that they remembered your backyard, so that you could share them with us....
Beautiful photographs......
WOW!!! They are sooo beautiful! My sister in VA told me today that they have been visiting her too. Oh I would LOVE to see one in person. Enjoy!
I have never seen one. They are lovely, arent they?
What smart little birds to remember to visit your garden :-) The Grosbeaks are gorgeous!
Sending wishes for a Happy Mother's Day to you Sherry.
Q- that first picture of the female, she looks like a hawk with attitude. All she is missing pointier beak.

Q,
Wow great photos! It has been years since I saw one of these birds up close. I do hear them in the spring once or twice a year if I'm lucky.
Oh, so beautiful! What an exciting time of year to have such unexpected company fly in to visit to your gardens.
They are exotic! I've never seen them before. Thank you Sherry!
