Sunday Safari

The Ebony Jewel Wings are flying.

This is a female, displaying, to attract a mate.

The males are iridescent blue or green.

Today I sat with them.

I watched as she found her mate.

I watched them mate.

I watched them defend their territory.

I watched as this female laid her eggs while he kept watch.

I wait all year for the Ebony Jewel Wings to emerge.

Happy Sunday Safari.

Q,
I really enjoyed this series, Not an easy task to get such good shots of these creatures. I've only found Ebony Jewelwings in ones thus far this year. Always look forward to your posts.

Just came in from the porch we watched a Green Heron get frog legs for its breakfast. It has been more than 7 years since I've seen one here.

There was so little time left for blogging and commenting the last two months and therefore I have to catch up a lot of posts. I've already seen some of your outstanding and beautiful pictures from your ABC Wednesday and I am full of admiration. The same is valid for these snapshots here as I know how difficult it is to take them. These little creatures are so delicate and quick.
