Wow such a great time to have Giants in your garden. The mimosas are very invasive, we bulldozed our away when we did the addition, but many sprout in the lawn all the time. Giant might not be the largest butterfly in the US anymore. The recently discovered Appalachian Tiger Swallowtail might be as big or larger. I have photos on my main web page at www.rlephoto.com
These photos look so tropical Sherry. I just love them. PLUS you get a Giant in your garden. We have only seen them in our garden a couple of times over the years. Maybe all this weird weather is messing with the bugs too.
Wonderful photos. Who would think you're in the Midwest? :) The photos DO look tropical. If we have Giants visit, I hope I can recognize them! Gorgeous! -Tammy
Sherry, Great pictures. I had no idea there are such giants in North America. Now I have to raed more about it!! We noticed very large butterflies in Samana, D.R. Thank you for sharing!! - Cheers Gisela
Dear Sherry.....gosh that post made me tingle. What a beautiful butterfly and against the soft blooms of the Mimosa ....such a perfect comination. The bloom light and feathery....the butterfly colour so strong.....I love it, really love it......
what a pleasure to have these beauties around. we are having a shortage of butterflies. there are lots of other flying creatures but i wish we had more butterflies.
