Sunday Safari

I watched the full wolf moon set this morning.

I knew it would be a sunny day.

It is still cold and some snow remains on the ground.

My bonsai, Okinawa Holly,
is in bloom.
My daughter gave me this holly in 2003.
It was a four year old bush at the time.

It is time for me to repot.

I have been dreaming this past month.
I have been reflecting.

I have been studying.

We have packed up the January decorations.

Haiku gives way to Rumi.

I will read a poem a day in February.

In the evenings we will read a story from the Arabian Nights.

February is a full month.

These are Unicorn days for me.

Our home is filled with romance.

Crystals shimmer in the sunlight.

Sonnets
and love spells are fun on
cold February nights.

It is time to care for our souls.

Time to write letters and read.

I have my Ayurveda books out.

 I travel my silk road.

I shall study Turkey and India.
We will go to the Mid-eastern market for
Turkish coffee.

I lay my French ways over my
Arabic.

I lay my hopes
on the shoulders of Anoushka Shankar.

Perhaps music will be our bridge.

I am wearing red.

It is the color of passion
and warmth.

Luna New Year begins on the second new moon after winter solstice.
This year it is on February 14th.
It will be the year of the metal tiger.

I will be watching Punxsutawney Phil.
I will make candles on Candlemas.
I will eat red beans and rice on Mardi Gras.
Goodbye January.
Hello February!
Happy Sunday Safari.

So glad to see the cardinals!! They are such cheerful birds! I had a glimpse of one the other day, trying to get up the nerve to sing, but not putting much effort into it. And the flowers on your bonsai are beautiful!!

Sherry, I always enjoy seeing what you are up to and are studying. Such eclectic tastes! You are a good reminder that there is always something new to learn and that a sense of wonder keeps us young.

I never tire of seeing your cardinal photos--they're perfect for February, aren't they? Not only the red coloring, but I always think of them as lovebirds as well. Happy February!

What a fun safari today! You are so busy this month!
Your holly plant is gorgeous. I've never seen one in bloom before. And it's so old! You must be watering it with love.

The cardinals look lovely too, as always.
