Leo the Lion

The sun is in Leo the Lion.

I am learning about these big cats.

I am finding my roar.

I am learning the history
of humans and lions.

I am aware of the lions in my city.
The symbolism of protection is perfect
 for this insurance company's building.

In ancient Egypt the Nile River would flood
when the sun was in Leo.

These were life giving waters.

The Lion Paw shell is beautiful.

I am looking in my backyard

for an ant lion,
which is not an ant or a lion.

There are big cats in
North America.

We are walking late in the evening
under the waxing Moon
of the Mountain Lion.

I have seen bobcat scat
 in my backyard.

Once again the Spicebush Swallowtail
came to the Butterfly Bush.

I will be checking the
 Spicebushes for caterpillars.

The female Zebra Swallowtail
found the Paw-paws.

We are under a heat advisory.
I am inside.
I am nesting.

I am honoring my hearth in summer.

Lions are a fascinating subject. So beautiful. When I think of lions I remember a trip to the Field museum and the statue and story of the man eating African lion. Apparently it doesn't happen often that lions begin hunting people, but the story gives me goose bumps.

Have a great weekend.

One of my most memorable moments was when we were traveling early in the morning, in eastern Washington. we were driving along near a river, when were so startled to see a mountain lion came up over the guard rail, and bound across the road about ten feet in front of our RV.
we looked at each other to make sure we were not delusional and said "did you see that?" it was an awesome sight indeed, and we surmised the creature had been down to the river to quench it's thirst.

I am very interested in mountain lions since their range is also my home territory! I found scat on the trail behind my house last summer. The books look tantalizing. I enjoyed the lion facts you provided. Keep cool.

The scallop shell is so interesting, Sherry; it really does look like a lion's paw. I've always been a cat lover--both domestic and the big cats. Tigers have always been my favorite. I wonder why there isn't a Zodiac sign associated with the tiger?

This is definitely a good time to stay inside and read some good books; we're under a heat advisory as well. Stay cool!

Dear Sherry, I love the cat family.
We have escaped wild cats (not lions0 that roam our area (Kent). There are have been many images showing the creatures. I myself have seen one from a distance while walking Nella. I confess to being more than a little scared.....and took the shortest route home.

So exciting the butterfly has found your paw paw......

Stay cool!
