The Zebra Swallowtails
are gracing the gardens.
I do hope the female
finds the Paw-paw.
We planted the bushes for her.
The Silver Spots shimmer
in the butterfly bushes.
We are still considering
what we will do with the gardens.
It is so hot and humid
I cannot be outside for
very long.
My friend wishes she could fold up her garden
in the summer and bring it out again in the Autumn.
Me too.
I am called to be inside
and rest from the heat.
I am filling my art box
and creating.
The care of the Earth is my primary concern.
I love making my choices
thinking of how they will effect
those that come after me.
Looking ahead 200 years would be amazing.
I am wanting to live with zero waste.
We are going through each room.
We are re-using what we can and
re-cycling every thing else.
We are becoming more aware.
We are buying different.
We are making a difference.
We are making beautiful
with junk mail envelopes.

Excellent post. Love your butterfly picture and I'm check out that card book you mention.
If all goes well might have new poems post this week. But I'll send an email when I do
As I stroll through your post, I find myself inside with you, leafing through those books and maybe watching the birds and butterflies outside in the garden. It's cool here in the mountains. I cannot abide humidity for long.
It seems to be hot everywhere! We finally got some rain yesterday -- if it hadn't doubtless some stuff would have been lost, but it's too hot to be out there too long.
The Zebra Swallowtail is so graceful and beautiful. Your hummingbird pics are stellar.
Dear Sherry, what a wonderful post.
I am so pleased to read that you are looking forward to future generations......
I have a new garden shed......but we have re-used the frame, floor etc. The timber that has rotted will be used for kindling for the fire in the winter months. Everything will be re-used, re-cycled..........it is looking very nice and it makes me feel better to have taken more care with planning.
The swallowtails are very beautiful. I feel sure you will have eggs......I know you will.
I saw a purple hairstreak yesterday. A first for me. I have seen them again this morning.......I am pretty certain they are living in the oaks at the end of the garden.....I also have their larval food (silver birch). Just too exciting.......
Your reading matter interests me......we all have so much to learn.
Stay cool my friend.......stay hydrated.....
Lovely Sunday safari.....
I am trying to stay cool, too, Sherry. I am rarely outside during the middle of the day. I think folding up my garden to bring out again in August is a wonderful idea! Lovely photos of the Zebra swallowtails. The past week we've had a variety of new butterflies here beside the Red Admirals that have been around all summer. I've been chasing them down to get photos without much luck. I think you must be the butterfly and bird whisperer, Sherry:)
Good morning Q. Wonderful butterfly photos. We don't have the zebra sw in this area. So beautiful!
Marnie
Dear Sherry, What a lovely safari again, beautiful photos and thought provoking words. How wonderful it would be if everyone considered the effect their actions might have on future generations.
The Zebra Swallowtails are so beautiful, we do have our own native Swallow Tail Butterfly here but only in one area of the country...sadly not mine.
I do hope you manage to keep cool and that the humidity does not affect you too much, I sympathise, it takes my breath away...quite literally!
I nearly forgot! I loved the hats made from plant material, the coconut and gourd ones made me smile :)
I love your Sunday safari photos! We still have a few precious hummers eating at our feeder. They are so much fun to watch. Love that book on folding cards...very neat! And we are very aware of how we shop and use what we have. Enjoy your week! ♥
My time outside is certainly limited too. This is worse than winter to me. UGH. Love your post. It is a gentle reminder that we all need to do as much as we can to preserve our precious earth. People must remember there isn't much out there for us. Earth is all we have. WE must take care of her. You have found some fun reading. I can see how those cards would catch one's eye. I could see making kite cards like these. I have a Zebra photo very like your first one. Of course yours is in better focus etc. Happy Safari.
Your pics are exquisite. Butterflies come to me these days. You have a lot of good books and wonderful ideas.
Interesting to think 200 years ahead. I wonder...
Happy Safari. I'm glad you are thinking ahead to those who come after us. I am too.
Namaste
What a wonderful butterfly this Zebra swallowtail, which I never saw before. And your photos are - as always - outstanding! We actually too experience very high temperatures and no rain at all. We are not so familiar with temperatures above 32 °C and this for several weeks. July was an extraordinary month, in every respect!
