Sunday Safari

A Great Spangled Fritillary nectared in the Purple Coneflower garden this afternoon.

Another fed in the butterfly bush.
They joined up for a short time.
I have seen all my butterfly friends since I have been home.
I missed them while gone.
I was shelling peas when the Giant Swallowtail came to the Garden Rue to lay eggs.

I shall be looking for Orange Dogs to emerge. The Garden Rue is for them.
It is hot and humid today.
My camera fogs up when I go outside with it.
We have had lots of rain. Another .7" fell last night.
I fell asleep to the sounds of thunder and rain.

Summer Solstice is Tuesday.
I shall watch the sunrise.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads.
I miss mine and am grateful for all the love he gave me.

I am processing trip photographs and doing up my scrapbook.
I am slowly getting back into the swing of things.

Happy Sunday Safari.

Welcome back, Sherry. I see we posted about the same topic - butterflies, although mine is a moth.

I love your pics. You capture those butterflies so well.
Happy Summer and Happy Father's Day to your dear hubby.
I miss my Dad too!

Welcome back.. and welcome Summer! Lovely captures as always. I'm truly amazed by your variety of photos and your knowledge of the subjects. Isn't this weather crazy (to say the least?!)? I would love a nice, boring night of sleep for a change - w/ no thunder & etc ;) -Tammy

Dear Sherry,

Your gardens are way ahead of mine.
The butterflies came to welcome you home. I am sure they miss you, as much as you miss them.

Fossils are just amazing.....I also love amber.

I am blessed to still have my father with me. I took him to lunch with Mum. He does not say much these day but just to have him with me is enough......

It has been raining for the last week. It has served the garden well. It is lush and green.....

Such beautiful butterflies Sherry and lovely, lovely photos! I miss our butterflies so much in the Winter... But... I am missing them now too :( They started off so well in the early Spring but now in my area they are few and far between, it is very worrying!

I never stop missing my Dad...

Looks like you had a beautiful welcome when you returned home, Sherry!

I'm glad you had a great trip; I look forward to seeing some of your photos--I'll have to remember to check out your travel blog to see them. I'll be taking part of the same journey later this summer when Youngest Daughter moves back home from Oregon. I'm afraid we won't have time to make as many stops as you, but I look forward to seeing some of the West once again. I remember when we drove out two years ago thinking much the same thing as you--while we were flying down the interstate in our air-conditioned car listening to music, I couldn't help but think of the pioneers making the same journey in covered wagons years ago. My admiration for their strength and peseverance really grew on that trip.

Welcome home! I enjoyed reading your 'We're Back' post and Safari is wonderful, as well. Always a pleasure to see your outstanding photos. I, too, miss my Dad on a daily basis.

Welcome back, Sherry - glad you had a good visit with your family. We have the heavy rain too, but sadly not the butterflies - they are beautiful, as ever.

These are great! I think my hardest photo sessions are with butterflies. I can never seem to catch them with wings open. You must have that special touch!
You've got some great varieties in your garden.
