Treasure Hunt

It was 2 degrees Fahrenheit, -16 Celsius, when I went out to feed the birds.
I bundled up. I wanted to be outside and see the beauty of the day.
I knew there would be treasures.

  1. I love your peanut feeder - I don't have one in the garden ...do they work well?

  2. Dear Deb,
The large peanut feeder is well liked! I wanted it so that the large woodpeckers would be able to get peanuts. I have a small one that is just the right size for the Downys and the Hairys but the Red Bellied could not get to it. I was so pleased to see Red Bellied on the peanuts! The large one also has a dome cover so the peanuts stay dry. The little birds also use it; wrens, chick-a-dees,and woodpeckers. If the Red Headed Woodpeckers ever learn that there are tasty peanuts to be had they just might come to the feeding station! I have the large peanut feeder on the feeding station which has a squirrel guard. I read that the Yellow Bellied Sapsucker also will come to the peanuts, fingers crossed! That would be excellent.
    Sigh....
