Welcome back

The Brown Thrasher returned today.

He has a marvelous song.

The morning chorus is building.

All we need now is the Oriole section
and the hum of the Hummingbirds.

  1. Hi Sherry, I hope you are feeling as chipper as that Brown Thrasher. Are you better now?

I had a lovely Brown Thrasher to show yesterday, too. I love them.

Our hummingbird is quiet (or gone). It's too cold!!!!

  2. Oh he's gorgeous!

I went on a hike last week and came across a few orioles and a woodpecker...they were so tame that they ate right out of our hand!

  6. Glad to hear you are feeling better Sherry. Hearing the songs of the returning brown Thrasher will help :-} Yesterday, while we were at the park with Ben, it was alive with bird song - we were trying to distinguish the different songs and spot the birds that went with each :-}

  8. Dear Mary,
I think I am 95% well. Will give myself a few more days just to make sure. This was one nasty virus! I am feeling as chipper as a Brown Thrasher!
You did have a lovely Brown Thrasher photo! I love them too.
I did not see a mate...so I hope she comes soon. Last year they raised two young ones.
No hummers for me yet. Any day...
You have gone to cool down. I am on warm up! Spring has been so slow and deliberate this year. I love this. Each day a surprise.
    I saw butterflies today!
    I am very chipper.
    Butterfly wings,
    Sherry

  11. Dear Jayne,
I have only ever had one pair here in the backyard.
Usually I have a pair of Mockingbirds, a pair of Brown Thrashers and a pair of Cat Birds. They all like grape jelly!
    LOL

  12. Dear Lisa,
I like to think he is singing to me! LOL
They are beautiful singers. I like the way the Thrasher and the Mockingbird seem to compete!
    Butterfly wings and bird songs,
Sherry, who still loves the bees....

  14. Dear Karen,
I did not know the Brown Thrasher was Georgia's state bird. Thank you for telling me. I love knowing about the different states and their flowers, trees , birds, bugs, rocks!!
I do research when we go on a road trip of all the different states we are planning on driving in. We enjoy knowing about the history of a region too.
The Brown Thrasher is a handsome bird.
    Sherry
