May Day

The May Pole
is standing in the front yard.

Her ribbons dance in the gentle breeze.

The House Wren has set up housekeeping.

The male Rose-breasted Grosbeak scouted the backyard.

The male Hummingbirds are claiming their territory.

The chamomile is in bloom.
Early strawberries are ripe.

It is May.

Happy May Day!

  2. I love the hummingbird! His throat echoes the colour of the geranium!
Thank you for recommending Diane Ackerman - I got her book, Cultivating Delight, from the library, and I am sipping at it! Too heady to read it quickly!

Your gardens are so advanced.....has the weather been very warm?

I remember the May pole from last year.....it stayed with me all that time. Just so pretty in your gardens....

  6. Sherry,
Loved the grosbeak shot. When I see them they are way up in the trees.

  8. I agree with Barb, Sherry - you indeed have a gift! Who will dance around the May Pole? I can remember that tradition - since I went to a girls' school, it seemed like a natural thing to dance around the pole, braiding the ribbons! May is a happy month - "the happy month of May."
