Dogwood Days

I sat in the grass under the back Dogwood Tree.

Each blossom crisp in the morning sunshine.

I listened to the male House Sparrow chirp.

I am a little too close to the nest.

I watched the light change as the clouds came in.
My tree was a tiny sapling 20 years ago.
Today she is a promise kept.

A male House Finch came to see what I was doing.
I was having a cup of coffee with a Dogwood Tree.
All over the area the Dogwoods are in bloom.
The Flowering Dogwood is the Missouri State tree.

Yes, Spring slowed down a tad, overnight!

We have a Dogwood in the front garden. I call it the dining room garden, because it's by those windows. Our little Dogwood blooms looked a little forlorn, this morning.

I love watching birds and keep a bird book close at hand, just in case.

Hi Pat,
Once the clouds came in I had to bundle up. Brrr....
We have two Dogwoods, one in front and one in back. The back Dogwood is by one of the bedroom windows.
The birds like to perch up in the branches. I often am awakened in the morning by their songs.
My field guide is on my desk now.
Ever since I bought the camera I seem to take photos and id later!
I too enjoy the birds.

Hello Sherry. Your dogwood looks great, ours has no flower yet. I hope you are surviving the frosts, no doubt your birds are being well cared for :-) Great pics at always :-)

Dear Chris,
So hope when your Dogwoods bloom they have gentle breezes and warmer temps than we have had these past few days and nights.
The birds are depending on me to provide food since the bugs and seeds are frozen again!
Lots of nests and I would think some eggs have already been laid.
We will be okay. Warmth will come again.
I may loose the rest of the Spring blooms this weekend. We will see.
I took lots of Dogwood photos just in case the floowers fade soon.
I do look forward to Spring and all the beautiful blooms. At least I was able to have them about for a little while. Maybe next year Spring will come a bit slower and last longer.
