How sweet. I think I like the seed eating birds best tho'....
This morning while opening my dining room drapes I saw a hawk at the back of my garden, in the shade of the cedar hedge, tearing something apart. I was not able to photograph it, as my camera isn't up to that distance with any clarity. As I opened the patio door it flew away, and it was then I saw a tiny rabbit run from the protection of the hedge..right behind where the hawk had been...!
I walked up to the spot to find the remains of a small bird, not a sparrow,it was about the same size, and all that was left was the head. It was black, possibly one of the many birds returning north for the summer.
This is turning into a post...sorry..but there is a little more...
I realised the rabbit had stopped and was watching me, and as I tried to photograph it, then it ran through the fence..
In the flower bed from where it had watched me I discovered the remains of a rabbit..obviously there for sometime.
I haven't been able to get out there because the weather didn't co-operate, and I had such high hopes for today. So while the sun is shining, I am saddened by what I have found. I think the only way to look at it is as 'The circle of life'....

I do understand. I am a plant based person, a vegetarian. I also have seen Hawks hunt and capture thier prey. I have watched Praying Mantis capture and eat Skipper butterflies. It is the circle of life. It also is somewhat hard for us "nature lovers" to witness.
