First Frost

I slept in this morning.
The sun was already
over the horizon.
When I raised the shades
to greet November
I saw frost in the gardens.
I grabbed my robe and slippers.
I went outside.

I have house chores today.
Time to put Halloween away.
I want to be outside.
I want to be with first frost.

I like your frosty photos. I am happy to see I am not the only one that dashes outside in housecoat and slippers with camera in hand when something catches my eye. My DB is agast when I do that.

Dear Lisa,
I doubt if any of my neighbors would even notice me! My husband was at work, otherwise he might have been outside with the camera.
We both do photography. Nice to have four eyes seeing the natural beauty.
I actually ate a wild violet! They looked like they were sugared!
The marigolds are edible too...
The backyard was frosted the front, which faces north, was not!
A very scattered frost.

Dearest Sherry,

How lovely to see the frost on the flowers and the leaves, it's really beautiful. I wish we could see the up close ice crystals, I bet they would be stunning.

Happy November, Happy 'Olde Way' New Year!

Love you,

Dearest Sprite,
I so love you saying, "Happy 'Olde Way' New Year." It feels that way for me too. The frost is the signal that this growing time is over. Now the gardens will rest. So many of our present day ways are based on the olde ways. Many have forgotten why we do the things we do. It is good to remember why.
The frost energized me! So refreshing. I am cleaning and packing up October. November things are calling to come out.
My colors change to browns and reds. I celebrate leaves in November.
When I get my macro lens we will be able to see the ice crystals! Plus all sorts of tiny creatures.
Happy, happy November to you too. It is a glorious month.
I am looking forward to each day.
It is the month of gratitude.
Thank you so very much for your love and support.
Love and blessings,
Sherry

I hope you pulled a scarf around your neck too! Don't catch cold :-) Lovely photos, I do like the touch of frost on the leaves and petals but hope not too much damage was done.

Good frosty photos, Sherry!

We had our first front on Monday morning. Odd, after 85 degrees 5 days prior. Good-bye Zinnias.

Dear Chris,
I do often forget all about body! I will be sure and take care of myself so I do not get sick.
Thank you!
The frost was scattered and not heavy at all. My husband was up a couple of hours before me and did not see any! He says it cools down right before sunrise so I guess it was just cool enough for a wee bit of frost. It is beautiful!
It is time too. I am ready to put the gardens to rest.

Dear Mary,
You went from summer to winter! Maybe Autumn will come now! Your weather has been so strange this year. This has been the most beautiful Autumn I can remember.
The trees are holding on to their leaves too. I would like Autumn to last all the way to December...

I'm happy to see the frost. This summer has been so hot and hard on people, plants, and animals alike. Beautiful images, Sherry!

Hi David,
I also am ready for frost. Last spring was so hard on my gardens that I did not do very much gardening. Now that the growing season is over I will clean things up and start again next year. My focus changed too. I am planting native and for the birds and butterflies.

Beautiful 'Jack Frost' pictures Sherry. I have had to scrape the car windows these past two mornings. November is here :-}

Dear Deb,
I do think the frost is lovely!
I love the cool mornings and the warm afternoons. The trees are incredible this year. I am hoping autumn lingers for at least another month. Maybe I will get my gardens cleaned up by December! I am being so slow this year.
Happy November.

Dear Cathy,
Thank you!
First frost is an event at my house. Not everything was nipped. It was a light frost. Killing frost is yet to come!

Theseimages are beautiful. They do look like they've been frosted with sugar. I eat my violets (and other flowers as well) also.

Dear Anna,
I will pop over!
I am not bringing in very many plants this year. I hope to do some traveling this winter.
I will enjoy your indoor gardens this winter.

Dear Laume,
Eating flowers is delicious! They taste yummy and are so pretty!
Frosted violets are sweet and refreshing! Years ago I would coat them with sugar. I would use them on cupcakes! Candied wild violets and candied miniature rose buds were once all part of my weekly baking. Very fun to do and so pretty. Now we eat our flowers natural.
