Goodbye Indian Summer

The north wind
is blowing cold air into my region.

A few blooms survive.

The birds

and the squirrels keep me company.

I am saying goodbye today.
Indian Summer is too short.

That top photo shows just what is happening here tonight. The wind is blowing so hard that the leaves and other debris hitting my window sound like hail.

That little squirrel looks very content. He appears to be scratching his belly and asking for another "peanut please".

Dear Lisa,
The wind is sweeping the leaves and Mother Nature is mulching! When the acorns hit the roof it startles the birds! I get tickled.
The squirrels are something! We have too many in our yard...They are fun to watch. This one is very friendly and comes up to the deck for "bird seed" all the time. He does seem to be asking for more.
Thank you for tagging me for the 8 random facts meme! I shall look for the link from when I did this last summer. It is so very nice to get to know you.

The squirrel is really cute but I bet he is stealing the food :-). It is much colder here today, we had our first frost last night on the coast but no damage done.

We have the same cold wind today, chasing away 75 degrees yesterday. Your squirrel friend looks like he's saying, "You talking about me?" Thanks for the prettiest squirrel I've seen :o)

Stay warm.

Dear Chris,
We have had many nights of killing frost. The growing season is over for this year. It is time to put the gardens to rest.
The squirrels do eat the bird seed even tho I put food out for them! Oh well, everyone needs to eat.

Dear Mary,
Brrr....
I was wrapped in two blankets and had my coat, hat and gloves on this morning when I went to the deck. I love being outside and as long as I am able I will sit with the birds. I was watching a storm system come your way. I hope it gave you some rain!
The squirrels just have their way with me! As do the rabbits and the racoons! My husband thinks he can trap and relocate all the raccoons, I don't think so! There are too many.
You stay warm too. A drop in temps like that is hard on the bones.

Dear Sue,
I so understand. I would like to have Indian Summer last at least until December! It is a long time until spring....
I do enjoy a little bit of snow and I like my winter coat. I just do not want to have to wear it before December.
We will find all sorts of enjoyable winter activities. I have a stack of books to read and I have writing to do. Winter photos can be extreamly beautiful!
I also have been thinking about slide shows for December! We will see what I come up with!

Dear Nita,
The squirrels are cute. They dig all over my yard and forget where they buried their nuts. Come January they will be in force at the feeders. I have corn set out for them but they disregard it!

Dear Anna,
The Cardinals are here year around. Come winter more come in. Right now I have three males and three females coming to the deck for seed. As winter approaches more will come. Last winter we had about 18 every evening on the deck eating seed from all sorts of trays I set out.
The squirrels are fun to watch.
The north wind is so cold! As long as I stay tucked in on the south side of my house I do just fine.
Stay warm.
Hugs,
Sherry

Wonderful pictures! I like the snapshot of the squirrel very much!! Our trees here have lost all their leaves now and tomorrow will probably be the last time raking them from the lawn. Winter is definitely coming!
Have a cosy Sunday!

Dear Barbara,
We have not started raking the leaves yet. Our leaves are almost finished falling. I hope winter holds off for a few more weeks.
I still have geraniums in bloom!
The squirrels are very fun to watch.
