The temperatures continued
to rise this afternoon.
I was hoping for a butterfly.
The Eastern Comma floated down from the sky.
At first I thought she was a leaf.
I am so grateful to see her.

These butterflies frequent our garden too. Ihaven't seen one in some time. They are especially attracted to the rotten apples from our tree.
I am taking your advice on rotting fruit. I need to find a place where the Mockers won't devour it, though.

Thank you. The light was "funny". It was cloudy and the sun was peaking out every so often. I was so very pleased Eastern Comma came out just when she did. I do think this butterfly is beautiful! I may think that about all the butterflies. LOL!

Dear Mary,
My Mockingbirds do not like mashed up bananas, so I do them most of the time for the butterflies. Also last spring when I had oranges out for the Orioles the butterflies liked the shells with just a trace of pulp left in them.
You have lots of butterflies in your area and I bet they are out all winter!

Dear Lisa,
All sorts of butterflies like rotting fruit. We both are in areas that all winter, on a warm day, we could have a few butterflies. The Question Mark is also a common "fruit" butterfly as is the Mourning Cloak. Since I do not have fruit trees I have to set up butterfly feeders.
I love taking pictures of butterflies.

Yes, she is a gift from God.
All of nature is.
Hopefully I can keep the gift alive and share the beauty that is all around us. Perhaps if each of us honours the gift nature will have a chance.
