The Posing Ball

I never tire of sitting outside with the birds.
I enjoy watching them.

The ball finials on the deck posts
give a nice spot to perch.

The birds land and look at me.

When they feel comfortable
they come down to the seed trays.

Sometimes they stay for awhile.
Sometimes they rest.
Sometimes they want raisins!

Dear Lynne,
The birds are so funny.
I forgot to put Mockingbird's raisins out this morning! He let me know too. I promptly put them out. I do think Mockingbird would eat his raisins out of my hand.
Time to wind down 2007 and prepare for 2008. Hope your New Year is full of bird songs.

I always love Cardinals. But.. oh my, what is that last precious bird???? He looks so puffy. Almost not real. Almost like a stuffed toy. :-)

But look at that face! No toy he!!!!

Dear Mari-Nanci,
The Cardinals always look so dignified! Mockingbird is just funny. These two Cardinals are not afraid of me at all. They come to the deck rather quickly whenever I come outside.
Having Cooper's Hawk about two or three times a day keeps Mockingbird from being too agressive!
Hope you are enjoying these last few days of 2007.
Blessings,
Sherry

Love the flight picture. You caught him with his feet just at lift off.

That Mocker is a scream. He was quite irked at your lack of raisins.

Dear Cathy,
I enjoy your poetry. Thank you for posting them. I read a poem every day. I do write a few too.
I laugh with the birds. They tickle me.
One more day of melting and then bitterly cold temps come back.
I will be snug inside!
Happy New Year, Cathy.
Thank you for your friendship.

As I gather up my 2007 I am thinking of the joys I have experienced. Getting to know you is one of those joys. Thank you for posting and sharing your experiences and love. Together we can bring Heaven to Earth!
We are kindred spirits. The Fairies know.
I am happy you are enjoying your garden and healing. Soon we will have many bird songs and your roses will bloom again.

Dear Gisela,
No worries!
The winter birds do make the cold snowy days pass quickly.
The New Year is full of hope and opportunity. Thank you for the quote. May each day in 2008 be a day of fun and joy for you.

Dear Lisa,
I thought of you while I was watching the Cardinals come up to the deck. I thought you might enjoy a bird in flight! It is pretty busy out in the yard and I can get better photos if I just wait for the birds to fly down from their posing, perching, balls.
My son was very surprised how close Mockingbird comes. I also give out dried cherries! Lots of the birds enjoy the fruit.
Mockingbird seems to enjoy it the most.
We will have a grand 2008! I can feel it in my bones.

Dear Mari-Nanci,
You are very welcome. 2008 is your year to shine! 2008 is your year to enjoy.
We will have lots of fun!
We will sing with the birds and dance with the butterflies.
We will laugh and find joy in every cloud.
I also am grateful to call you, "friend."
Hugs,

Dear Mon@rch,
Lighting is everything!
I was not planning a post but when I saw how wonderfully funny and beautiful Mockingbird looked I just had to share.
I do not have a huge diversity in the back yard in the winter but I do have hundreds of friends.
Thanks for your support and encouragement. I learn so much from you.
