Presents

I was playing with my roses,
when the north wind began to blow.
The wind harp began to sing her magical songs.
I looked out the window and saw a light snow falling in the sunlight.
The air was filled with music and glitter.
I grabbed my coat and my hat.

Cooper's Hawk flew in.

Thank you Cooper!

See! Even Mother Nature is cooperating to give you a lovely Birthday!

But, this is hardly a surprise. Mother Nature _knows_ how you love all her creatures and happenings.

Hugs,
Mari-Nanci

Gifts coming from all directions! Perfect photos.

That third picture is what I would call showing someone some tail. :) Wish I could hear the magical songs as well as seeing the magical hawk.

What a great birthday present.

Dear Mari-Nanci,
Mother Nature is always good to me.
Even when the spring came too soon she sent her lovely butterflies to ease the pain. Plus taught me about butterfly gardening! She is good!
The sunlight and snow was spectacular! My camera did not want to see it. A cardinal came to the deck so I was able to get a few photos before Copper's Hawk flew in. I think one or two of these photos shows the glitter and the Hawk.
I do love all of nature's events, even the scary ones are beautiful.

Dear Lynne,
Coop was so close! He flew towards me three times, each time getting closer and closer. These photos were taken on his last fly near. I was backing up so I could focus.
I am still awed!
I am sending comfort and joy to you for the New Year. I do understand. My mom died in 2004. I still can hear her voice. I still can hear her calling me, "Q".
I will always miss her.
Hugs and Happy New Year,
Sherry

Dear Lisa,
If I could figure out how to make my digital recorder work better I could record the Wind Harp. I began working on that last year and was distracted by birds and butterflies. Maybe my husband will help me figure it out!
I too would love to share the magic.
Happy New Year,
Hugs,
Sherry

Dear Meggie,
Knowing Cooper's Hawk is not afraid of me is very wonderful.
I have been close to this Hawk before but never this close. As I was backing up I was making little sounds hoping he would hear my voice. It would be very nice if Cooper and I could become "friends" in 2008.
I am enjoying gettting to know you.
Have a marvelous New Year,
Sherry

Wow, you always capture the best sides of all your critters you photograph! Without a doubt this is no exception! BRAVO!

Dear Jayne,
His is beautiful isn't he?
When I am outside and Cooper's Hawk comes in I am always thrilled. Being this close was exciting.
I call this sort of activity fun!

Dear Mon@rch,
Getting to know Mr. Cooper! Never have I been this close. If I had only stepped back one more step I could have gotten his entire tail in the last photo! I told my husband I do not think I have ever taken the "perfect photo". I can always see something I wish was different. I guess that is why I keep at it. One of these days everything will be just right!
I am pleased with these pictures. Cooper is a fantastic bird and I am grateful I have the opportunity to keep taking his picture.

Your Cooper is much prettier than mine. And, you know what? Whenever a hawk or a bird allows me a photograph, I always mumble quietly, "Thank you."

Dear Mary,
My Cooper eats lots of Starlings and House Sparrows!! He is well feed too. LOL He looks very pretty in the snow-glitter.
I always say, "Thank you" too.
I think it is a privilege to be able to photograph the birds. I like the relationship I have with them.
I took a series of pictures of a Red Shoulder Hawk and the light was not great. Your Red Shoulder Hawk photos are much prettier than mine. Light is everything.
It is so fun to share the birds and the photography with you.
Thank you-thank you!
I will be thinking of you as you head back to work. I have Christmas to put away.
Hugs,
Sherry
