In the Hen-bit I saw a few bees.
Also known as purple Dead Nettle. I let it grow in the lawn.
I want to learn all about the bees.
It is my insect for 2008!

I saw the first yellowjacket today. I was outside pulling henbit out of the flower beds all afternoon. A never ending battle.
It does look like a little Honey Bee.
I am allergic to the stings, so don't get close!
Hi Sherry....I to have this pretty little flower growing in my lawn. Your beautiful honey bee enjoying the little flowers to. Lovely photographs that brought a smile to my face. The honey bees will sting BUT if you leave them alone, they leave you alone. Enjoy the bee, they are our friends.
Well done for catching your bee on camera :-) We have had a few bumbles around but they escape me everytime! I must look a bit demented waving my camera around in the air :-)

I took my camera out to the lawn and started looking for my New Moon Bee! I was so happy to see a few! Henbit is considered a weed but I think it is pretty and the bees like it! If it is good for the bees it is good for me!

I have not seen any Bumble Bees or Yellow Jackets yet! I have seen a few Honey Bees.
The Henbit can grow all it wants to in my lawn. I do remove it from the flower beds too. It is pretty good at staying in the lawn. The flower beds are so full of everything else I do not think there is room for very much henbit!
I do grow a few "weeds" like dandilions in my flower beds and poke weed!
Thundershowers today for me. Hope you are getting a break from all the rains! At least the hnbit is easy to pull out.

I also say my little bee is a honey bee. I have been reading about all the different types of bees there are. My goodness I had no idea!
In 2008, I am studying the bee. Because of Cheryl's inspiration I have ordered a bee box and will hopefully learn how to be a bee keeper...at least a keeper of the Mason Bee.
One of my girlfriends is also allergic to bee stings. she could die from one!
I once took her to the emergency room for a bee sting.
I am okay with stings and actually never am bothered. I just love the bees and provide as much food as I can for them.

I encourage the clovers to grow in my lawn too. I love watching the bees in the clover during the summer. I have a nice population of Honey Bees. I have never followed the bees to see where their hive is.
One of these days I will.
Part of living organically is living with the pleasure of the bees.
We are bee people!

Dear Chris,
I have yet to see my Bumble Bee friends this year. The Honey Bees are much smaller! Cheryl did a post about the bees liking purple flowers. The only purple flowers in bloom at my house is the Henbit!
I am crawling around on the ground getting my pictures! I am sure the neighbors long ago gave up trying to figure me out!

I do love the little honey bees. I grow all sorts of clover in the yard for them. It is still rather cold at night in my area. I was not sure any bees would be out. I was very pleased to see a few!

The hive collapse troubles are a concern! I have never followed my honey bees to see where their hive is. I too am happy to see some out findinf food. It is still early spring at my house and cold at night. I am reading about bees and learning all I can!
