The Bright Eyed Cosmos provide food for many varieties
of butterflies and bees.
I save seed each year and resow in the spring.
It also self sows.
When I went to gather some seed this morningof butterflies and bees.
I save seed each year and resow in the spring.

I saw this Funeral Duskywing.
I knew it was a Funeral Duskywing because
of the white fringe on her wings.

Sherry, I have been reading your past several posts. The butterflies are just gorgeous seen through your lens. I love the 'leopard' lily. teee hee.
What a beauty she is Sherry and so beautifully poised on the flower.
I am sure the butterflies come into your garden and call you...let you take your photographs and say goodbye.....they are so perfect....
She's lovely. I took a photo of a pretty butterfly that landed on the fence over the weekend ~ I didn't know her name, but she looks alot like your Duskywing :-}
Oh that orange is so bright and pretty. I am always amazed that you know so many butterfly names.
Lovely photos...we don't get many butterflies here but I have always been fascinated by them.
What a pretty picture of the butterfly in contrast to the orange flower... always like to stop and see your butterflies.
Blessings
Much love
What an unusual butterfly! I'm curious how it got its name.
The photos on your Sunday Safari are just beautiful! I think you just identified a butterfly I've been trying to photograph--the yellow sulfur. I love watching her flit around my flowers.
Oh so beautiful images like always Q! That is a pretty butterfly!
Wishing you a beautiful week!
Cat
You have created a wonderful blog. I went all the way back thru June looking at and reading about butterflies, bees and dragonflies.
Very interesting. You have quite a few butterflies that aren't seen here in northern IL--and a few familiar ones.
Marnie
Gorgeous! Your photographic eye amazes me.
Your wonderful photographs never fail to enchant me!
As do your thoughtful words.
This is a new one for me. I don't think we have it here in Maine. Beautiful!
Dear Lisa,
Thanks! My husband is very funny. We do have a day lily that is striped and he thinks it should be our Tiger Lily!
I was very excited to see this Duskywing. I have seen pictures but this was my first sighting!
I also saw an Eight-spotted Forrester moth. I took pictures! I am hoping to see some more great looking moths and do a moth post!
Sherry
Dear Cheryl,
The way the sunlight was behind her wings made for a nice picture.
The butterflies do call to me. I love each of them!
I miss them very, very much each winter.
Sherry
Dear Deb,
I think she is in your area too. I also think her sister, the Indigo Duskywing, is in your area. The Funeral Dusky has the white fringe around her wings.
Little wonders of delight!
Sherry
Dear Wendy,
Some people read the news paper, I read field guides!
I like knowing the names of all the creatures that come into the backyard.
Sherry
Dear Laurie,
I love the birds and the bugs.
Dragonflies can entertain me for hours! I take the camera with me when I run errands just in case I see a butterfly!
Sherry
Dear Chris,
I am waiting for a few butterflies to still come this year. I have not seen a Buckeye yet!
They are my husband's favorite.
I also would love to see a Spice Bush Swallowtail since I planted ten spice bush bushes for them!
Sherry
Dear Jeanne,
Thank you, honey!
Blessings to you too.
Sherry
Dear Rose,
I took some nice pictures of an Orange Sulphur today. She was on a sunflower. They are pretty butterflies.
I also was wondering why "Funeral". My butterfly book says it was named after a dress one would wear to a funeral! So strange. LOL
Thank you! Sunday Safari is fun. I love doing it with Cheryl and sometimes Chris joins in!
Sherry
Dear Cat,
Thank you. I have been gone almost all week...
Now that I feel good I have been meeting friends for lunch and doing some shopping.
I do have a yard full of weeds to get to! Oh well, I bet the weeds will be here in September when the weather cools down a bit. Bugs like weeds.
Sherry
Dear Marnie,
Thank you! I do enjoy sharing the birds and the bugs. I hope everyone will plant native and enjoy the bugs that come to their backyards.
It is a joy to meet you.
Namaste,
Sherry
Dear Mary,
Thank you!!!
Hugs,
Sherry
Dear Meggie,
I hope to get over to your journal and catch up. I am behind...
Thank you for understanding,
Sherry
Dear Garden Path,
You might see her sister, Wild Indigo Duskywing. She looks almost the same.
Sherry
