Lots of rain

The rains stopped this afternoon.
I recorded 5.5 inches.

It is wet outside.
Thank goodness I live at the top of the hill.

The Red-spotted Purple was first to the Butterfly Bush.

The leaves hold plenty of water for the Skippers.

Temperatures are to rise into the 90's tomorrow.
It will be steamy!

You have lots of rain now...even though we don't like the hot and humid weather, I'm sure other things will thrive on the extra moisture...your skipper photo is great.

Hope some of that rain makes its way north. We could use an inch or two.

Hi Sherry,
We loved to get those rains when we lived in Overland Park - we were lucky and lived on the top of a hill, too!
How I wish I could get a Red Spotted Purple in my garden! Thanks to you, I've been watching for butterflies this summer, and it's so much fun. I guess the most exciting so far was the Mourning Cloak...

Dear Cheryl,
My drainage is very good, thank goodness. No flooding at my house but surrounding areas have had some.
Skippers are delightful! I too enjoy them.

Dear Cheryl,
I am so sorry!!! My head has been in the clouds of late. Please forgive my tardy replies.
Since feeling better I have the energy to be out and about more and with the bugs and birds!
Your friendship means the world to me. Thank you for understanding.
All the rain does make for some good bug hunting.
See you on Sunday for Safari!
Thank you for caring about me.
Hugs,
Sherry

Dear Marnie,
I would share if I could.
Cheryl needs rain too. I bet Mary could use a splash as well.
I am grateful for a wet summer. So far I have not needed to water. Good year for watermelons!

Dear Laura,
The Mourning Cloaks are beautiful! I have seen a couple this year but no pictures!
The Red-spotted Purple and the White Admiral are two subspecies of the same butterfly. They like rotting fruit! Mine like the orange slices I put out for the Baltimore Orioles. They like grape jelly too!
The white Admirals are north of me. Maybe they are in your area?

Oh my gosh. You got so much rain Sherry. We only got 1 3/8". The garden is thrilled to have it. All looked so much better today.

We had a few T-storms this week - maybe an inch total but we are hot hot hot and no rain in sight for a week. The drought continues. I'd ask you to send me some of yours but I'm over that now. Whatever...

Dear Lisa,
Your rains were a bit more sensible! Over 5 inches is really too much for one event.
It is muddy!

Dear Mary,
We do have to accept what ever Mother Nature gives us! Growing native has been wonderful for me. I still have a few non-native plants about but all my replacements are native.
I do not like the really hot weather.
I make sure the birds and the bugs have food and water and hope they find some shade.
You stay cool too.
Sherry
