Waiting for Dolly

Our local weatherman said a high pressure system,
associated with Hurricane Dolly, was on it's way.
Heavy rain is forecasted.

I took my coffee to the deck. I wanted to spend some time with my bug friends before the storm came. Little Bee came right up for a morning leg crawl and bee kisses.
When the Snowberry Clearwing moth came to the Butterfly Bush, Little Bee went to say, "Hello".

I have been watching the Fig Beetles fly about in the vegetable garden. They bury themselves in the grass clipping paths. I am pleased to have these Flower Scarabs in my garden. I think they are exotic. With all the rains and high temperatures this summer my Midwest garden feels like the tropics.

The Gold Finches, wild canaries, are feeding in the sunflowers.
A small flock calls my backyard home.
They also enjoy the cone flowers.

The Red-spotted Purples are feeding on sliced oranges.

The air is heavy.
The flies are biting.
The mosquitoes are swarming.
Think I will go out again and look for Dragonflies.

This is an "Off Topic Comment" but...I seem to have lost my knack for posting/commenting in 'Blog Land,' for a while. All I do lately, is put up a few photos, here and there. I didn't plan on it... It just happened.

And since I don't want anyone to think I got *uppity* or anything, :-) I'm leaving this comment, to explain my absence.

I'm sure to be back in not too long. Can't keep a "Chatty Person" quiet, for too long. :-)

Miss Mari-Nanci

That fig beetle does add to the tropical look of your garden. Must be the heavy part of the summer now...everyone seems to have the humid feel and steamy look to the garden.

Wonderful pictures Sherry. I must say we have lots of June beetles this year too. They are really busy right now. They must be mating like crazy. They fly around like they are drunk and bump into me when I walk through the part of the garden where they are thickest. It is an odd feeling having a big beetle bump into you. They don't say excuse me either.

What fantastic colors. Really rich and vibrant. Hope Dolly doesn't cause too many problems.

Dear Cheryl,
As the high pressure system grew closer more butterflies came to the butterfly bushes (I have four in bloom). I counted 15 different species of butterflies in the gardens. The birds were active too.
Lots of wings in my backyard! I was listening to the birds and taking butterfly pictures (over 1,000 for today) and thought this is heaven on Earth!
So glad you had rain. I can imagine the joy and gratitude you felt. I remember dry summers....
Thank you! I am doing well...have not posted on all my blogs or have I been visiting very much since I feel so good! I have energy for decorating and being out with the bugs and birds and blooms. I also have been going places and visitng friends here in my city.
I think I will post on Walking In Beauty again daily in August. I do walk and travel about in my city.
Thank you for your friendship. It means the world to me.
Namaste,
Sherry

Dear Chris,
It is foggy this morning as I write. I am visiting a new friend's garden pretty soon. I am looking forward to getting dressed and getting out into the fog!
It is lush in my garden. I saw Blue Tailed Skinks too...
Tropical summer...
As I say, "Goodbye July", I am thinking about what august will be like. I want to see about taking an early morning walking with my camera and my twilight walk with my husband. Plus I would like to add in photos and posting of all my goings....
August should be full and yummy...
Thank you Chris for commenting and coming to Corner. I enjoy your friendship.
Namaste,
Sherry

Your photos are stunning. I can't seem to get a good butterfly photo with my camera. Beautiful shot of the Snowberry Clearwing too.

Dear Meggie,
I was thinking about you and your cold days as the sun came out this afternoon. It is hot now and so humid...
I do enjoy taking pictures of the critters in my backyard!
I do miss the bugs in the winter.

Dear Scienceguy 288,
It has really been wet in the mid-west this year. I did okay with this storm. Some flooding south of me.
I will check on Marvin in Arkansas and see how he is doing. I think they also received Dolly rains.

Aren't those goldfinches beautiful? They look like they belong in the tropics. They remind us to listen to and look for nature spirits - for they are all around us.

Dear Marnie,
I think my photography has become my life!
I love taking pictures of nature.
Getting pictures of the butterflies can be tricky.
Keep trying!

I have a dear friend named Sprite. She is a nature spirit!
Awareness is easy when we open our eyes and slow down a bit!
