The rain has continued. The Hummingbirds do not mind.
The Cardinals find ways to stay dry.
Even in the mist the butterflies feed.
Blessings to those displaced by hurricane Ike.
The sun will come out again. Be full of care.

Thoughts are with those in the path and aftermath of Ike.
Your images are as gorgeous as ever, Sherry. We won't be returning to the lake for another week. I suppose the Hummingbirds will have migrated by then.
The rain hasn't begun here yet, but the sky is heavy. The cardinal is beautiful isn't he..? Ours seemed to go AWOL for a while but they have been back the last two evenings. hugs xx
Your pics are so vibrant. Lucky you to still have hummers around. Ours have left. But we still see the butterflies and dragonflies. Rain is nice sometimes, isn't it? Hope Ike is done....
Dear Pat, I checked the path of Ike and the storm seems to be coming your way this morning. The winds have died down so I am hoping you and yours will not have any troubles. Thank you! The Hummers stay around my house until the middle of October. You might see some juveniles at the lake. hold on to your hat and stay dry. Sherry
Dear Sheila, I could not tell if Ike was finishing up at your house or was he a bit east of you? I have had rain for days, unrelated to Ike! Mr. Cardinal is beautiful...so is she. Glad your Cardinals are back. I do love them. Well, I seem to love all the birds. Thank you for your friendship, Sheila. Love and light, Sherry
Dear Vikki, Hummers in Alaska would be extra wonderful! They do have a very far way to travel to get to my house in Missouri. Some make it up to Canada. I think they are charming and joyful and so strong. I just love everything about the Hummingbirds. Ike was a huge storm. Keeping the prayers going too. Hugs, Sherry
Dear Lisa, I have a soffit I sit under on the deck when it rains. If the wind is from the north I stay dry. It was an interesting rainy day...off and the the rain would stop just long enough for the butterflies to come out. I saw lots of different butterflies yesterday. I did not post them all. Maybe I will use them for slide show on Friday. Hope you did not get too much rain from Ike. I think you need rain but not the winds! I am trying to dry out some today. Bird songs and butterfly wings, Sherry
Dear Wendy, I am a bit south of you so my Hummers stick around until October. Saying goodbye to them is always hard. I miss the butterflies and dragonflies come winter. This year I have lots of projects to work on. I might do a crafting blog! I also will still sit with the birds so we will have our pretty pictures! I like rainy days. I think the color in the world is so vivid on cloudy, rainy days... Sunshine is nice too. Hugs, Sherry
Last night while having dinner we spotted a hummingbird in the trumpet vine :-) We have waited so long to see them. Your images during the rain are beautiful Sherry.
Dear Deb, Oh yes!!! I am so happy you saw one. They are a joy to behold. I keep thinking I will grow trumpet vine but cannot figure out where. My neighbor has a fantastic one and she has lots of hummers. The sun is out this morning and I am looking forward to being outside. It has been cloudy for a very long time. Hugs, Sherry
Dear Chris, Thank you. The last butterfly pictured is the female Tiger Swallowtail in her black dress. My number one favorite butterfly. When ever I see her I am so happy. Not as many of the black forms this year. Hugs, Sherry
Dear Chris, Sometimes it is the simple things that makes my day extra ordinary! The female Tiger Swallowtail in her black form is a thrill to see (at least for me she is!) I still have two Hummingbirds coming to the feeders. I will keep fresh necter out until mid to late October. I could have some migraters stop in! Sherry

I wish we had hummingbirds here but it never seems to be warm enough in our area so I can't really blame them!
We definitely have people in the path of Ike in our thoughts and in our prayers.
Have a beautiful weekend.
Love, Vikki
It looks like you find a way to stay dry to take pictures too. Hope you are enjoying the weekend despite the rain.

Dear Marmee,
Thank you!
It was a great day for photos. The light was great and the subjects so pretty.

A nice simple post...it brings warm feelings. I think we almost had a humming bird in the yard the other day - at least it buzzed by my head.
