A pair of Tufted Titmouse,
or is it Tufted Titmice,
came to the feeder.
I think they are cute.
They are year around residents in my area.
The bugs still fly in the afternoon sun.or is it Tufted Titmice,

Once the bees and butterflies warm up they are active.
The Monarchs are still migrating.
I watched a few fly over the house.
A Groundhog grazed in the backyard.
I did not plant my autumn lettuce.
I knew there would be no reason to with
a family of Groundhogs near by.
They will hibernate once the weather turns cold.
We stayed home today and built our scarecrow.I did not plant my autumn lettuce.

He will watch over the gardens until December.
Maybe I will plant my lettuce now.

I bet Mr Groundhog will not mind Mr Scarecrow sharing his garden space.
The bugs in our garden are slowing down. We have more honey bees right now than we did all summer. I wonder if it is because the crops have all been picked and there are fewer pickings for them.?
Nice clear pics of the tufted titmouses(mice?).
How did you get such a good close-up of the groundhog? They usually scurry away when they see people coming.
Hope Mr. Scarecrow doesn't get too cold!
I love these outings in your gardens(but, I hate to tell you; Mr. Scarecrow doesn't look too scary!) ;)
Love, Vikki.
how handsome your scarecrow is with his pitchfork in hand.
it is amazing how you captured that groundhog. the titmice look so beautiful.your photos are so nice as usual!
I LOVE your scarecrow. He seems like he will fit right in with the garden family.
Titmice are such sweet little birds, this is a great photo. My sister is inundated with ground hogs. They cause dreadful damage on her property. She has horses so they have to ever vigilant so that none are injured by stepping into the holes.
The scarecrow is lovely, but as a previous commenter says, not too scary. I wonder how long it will be before you are able to photograph some cheeky bird sitting on him...LOL
I love the scare crow. I am going through our cloths to get ride of what no longer fits. I plan to used them as stuffing in a family scare crow collection. If we get our small farm next Aug. I want an old outfit from each of my kids and grandkids. And I will place them through out the yard. I think it will be fun.
I love the groundhog.....he looks so cute....even if he does eat your veggies......
Mr Scarecrow is a handsome chap.....well done......
Lovely post Sherry......
How wonderful to see an image of a groundhog other that those we see in early Spring when some towns person is holding it and scaring it...while everyone cheers on!
Great looking Scarecrow!
What a great scarecrow, Sherry! Perfect for this time of year. The titmice are sweet birds indeed; if we have them here, I've never seen them before--or perhaps I didn't recognize them.
Though we still have many butterflies and honeybees, the monarchs didn't stay long. I will have to enjoy them on your posts instead:)
Beautiful photos of the gourds and apples, too.
I came here because my eyes are tired. Better, now.
I say Titmice.
Dear Lisa,
We set the trap up and caught a little opossum. Too young to relocate. I shall wait at least another week to sow my autumn veggie garden. I know the ground hogs will eat it right up! If the weather would cool down a bit more maybe they would go hibernate.
I also am seeing lots of bees. I think they are filling up before winter.
I will miss the bugs....
Sherry
Dear Wendy,
Thank you... titmice are sooo cute..
This groundhog was unafraid of me. I was pretty close before he slowly walked into the bushes.
Mr. Scarecrow, Henry, seems to do just fine until around the first of December. I think he stands well for a couple of months and than is weary of the job.
I have a neighbor who always thinks our scarecrow is a real man! LOL!
Sherry
Dear Vikki,
LOL... already the sparrows think he is a perching spot.
I love looking out across the yard and seeing Henry standing in the garden.
Something warm about a scarecrow in October.
Sherry
Dear Marmee,
The hay fork was my grandfather's.
I am very careful with it as I have few of his tools. My father used the hay fork on the farm when he was a kid. I use it to spread my straw when I take Henry down.
Thank you. I do love taking the pictures of the critters that visit and sharing them here. It is kind of you to say such supportive words. I am more comfortable with the different lens now. I do switch them out often during the day!
Sherry
Dear Mimi,
He is standing in the rain today. I will go fix his hat later.
His shoes are full of water!
Sherry
Dear Sheila,
While I love all the critters the Groundhogs really need to live in a wild area. Here among the humans they are likly to get hit by a car.
Always a trouble for the horses.
You are on to me! I do hope to get a few pictures of a bird on the shoulder of the scarecrow.
I need a crow to come grace me and Hank with a visit.
I will look for a shiny treat for one.
Sherry
Dear Grammy,
I love this idea of yours. I saw a great scarecrow witch today while running errands. A family of scarecrows would look good year round.
Sherry
Dear Cheryl,
My husband and I do have lots of fun! Putting the scarecrow up is one of our October activities. I try to have something fun everyday for us to do.
Sometimes it is simple like wear orange and black or eat pumkin muffins.
Sherry
Dear Anna,
There is a family of groundhogs living next door under my neighbor's shed. I keep hoping we will get all of them relocated.
Scarecrows are very fun to make. Watching Hank come to life each October is very fun.
Sherry
Dear Rose,
Thank you. I saw Monarchs yesterday so I think they are still migrating through. I have not seen a hummer for a week. A cool front is moving through this afternoon. I read after a cool front look for the birds migrating. I will too. I have not seen the geese yet.
Sherry
Dear Mary,
Rest dearheart...I would gladly share my gasoline with you. I am happy to stay home with the bugs and the birds.
Sherry
