Honoring the east

An Haiku a day
will keep the winter blues at bay.

Rice lanterns in the stairway

rice hats on the doors.
I am getting ready for Chinese New Year.
I am getting ready for the Year of The Earth Ox.

The Penguins are out.
They are very good.

Dear Lisa,
Haiku is one of my favorites too. I love the Asian decorating as well. I think it is very pretty. I love the cleaner look after the heavy Christmas.
I love Penguins. This little finger puppet has a story...it a poignant one...this little penguin traveled with me in my purse when I went to be with my sister. She died while my Mother and I and younger sister were flying out to see her. Little Penguin was my comfort...I gave comfort to Mother and sis and to my nephew. Little Penguin gave me a smile when ever I saw her.
As the years passed I bought the little penguin a hand so it would have a proper place to sit. For a few years she sat on my dresser. Now I store her in the January things with the other penguins.
I do think she is the cutest finger puppet ever made.
Memories, always looking for the joy, sometimes I have had to create it.
Namaste,
Sherry

Dear Natural Moments,
She is a sweet one...
I would love to see Penguins in the wild...it is a wish. The Blue Penguins, or Fairy Penguins, are my favorites. I think I might be able to get to them some day.
Penguins are very good.

Dear Cheryl,
My husband and I both were born in the Year of the Dragon. I have a few books on Chinese Astrology, I think it is very interesting.
My house is small so I have to stay organized. I always think I could be even more so!
I do love everything so the changing every month helps me enjoy and not be over whelmed with items. I still have a huge need for space to do my art in. Thank you for keeping my studio in your heart. I realized today just how badly I need it...
January is fun.

Sherry, this is a touching story about your penguin puppet. You are quite right to have a proper way to display such a comforting treasure.

I just love finger puppets. I have to say I have several that I have "bought for the Grands". Of course they have no interest in them so I have the pleasure of keeping them. ;)

Dear Sherry, your little finger puppet is sweet. I am glad she was there for you in your time of pain.
I also love the east - their culture, tai chi, and fresh lightness.
I was born in the year of the rabbit (metal).
I hope one day your wish comes true and you will see penguins. Don't forget your camera. LOL!

Dear Wendy,
Thank you. Someday I will see the Penguins...lots of cameras and emergency backup batteries and memory cards will come with!
I am drawn towards the Japanese culture. I love the art, the simple, elegant way.
My husband and I both were born in the year of the Dragon. How exciting to have a baby coming. This will be good birth year.
I love learning about all the different ways.
Namaste,
Sherry

Dear Kelly,
A Water Ox! I just love the way the Chinese Astrology has the elements with the animals. Now I want to know just what kind of Dragon I am!
